After a long debate, Miss Piggy was pulled from her shallow grave in order to get a better idea as to how the Toyota engine will fit.
We did not like the outcome of the measurements, so we are heading back to the drawing board.
After pulling the car out of the garage the flies just attacked it like it was the catch of the day.
In honor of it's new fan base it will be now be forever known as "Lard of the Flies".

Is that a Corner-Carvers sticker? I like it, either way!
No CC stickers, just GRMs, the jolly roger, the american flag and sponsor logos.

Ah, it looked like the CC sticker.
i've got two SBCs and only need one. do you need the other?
Let's play lets make a deal.
I will see what i can do.
my preference would be to broom the engine that's in the 944 now, to make room for my vortec engine which was $175 cheaper.
Call me (fax, email, carrier pigeon) with a number.
you forgot smoke signals and vulcan mind meld there, John...
Seriously, that car looks more solid than most merkurs I still see roaming the roads. Definatly needs a spoiler though, did realise how much the merkur NEEDS a rear spoiler to look pretty.
Wonder if a V6 would fit in there better than an 8. VQ swap maybe?
The 3.8L V6 was my first choice but I would prefer to mash throttle and destroy tires.
The car will be used to:
1: Cruise
2: Drag
3: Autocross (No trophy)
4: Drift
5: Rallycross
6: Scare two sons
I would like to see it be a high 12 second car once the suspension work is finished.
Does it have to be N/A?
You can run a TON of boost through a Toyota 5vzfe.... And it'll definitely fulfill objective #6.
3.4 litre quad cam v6.... should be fun.
Oh and it needs to be near free...
High boost Toyotas are out because of cost.
I was just looking at one. Even a standard 3800 V6 then changed over to the SC engine would be cool. The only beef I have is the rear mount throttle valve. I f it feeds to the rear of the engine I will lose a little heater box functionality.

None in scrapyards around you? :(
There's a couple 3vz/5vz in local pick a part, they'll charge like... $170 i think for each. Then a DIY turbo setup, or even just breathing mods and tuned will be PLENTY entertaining, they're REALLY torquey.
Don't get me wrong, i like the 3800sc idea, but i don't think it'll cost any large amount less than a turbo vz. :)
Even low boost stock bottom end on a fairly rudimentary setup would have no problems netting you 300+whp (way plus with a slightly larger investment down the road.)
Middle of GM country here. There is a 3.0L engine within 45 miles that runs for $1100.00, Nissan engines will run about $750.00 for similar year vehicles, and I can get LOW mileage 3800 Series-II GM engines for near nothing (275-350 ish) Remember every time you guys say that GM cars suck all the yards of devalued GM cars in Michigan get more affordable!

Ah ok... location location location!
In that case, i fully support the 3800sc idea. See, where i am, all 6-cylinders cost the same, and our self-service yards are big enough that i CAN find what i'm looking for, whether it's a 1mzfe, 5vzfe, 3800-II, 4.3 Vortec, or BMW 6.
I'll watch your progress. :)
After a few emails and a bit of searching it looks like the car will be V8 powered with an automatic. Don't be confused by the lack of a manual transmission.
