After a nice bonus at work, I finally ordered tires for the rims I bought with last year's bonus. Soon The Mustang will be shod in 18x9 American Muscle Charcoal rims with 275/40-18 Potenza RE760s on all four corners.
Looks like this:
Since the bonus was really good, I also have a set of Ford Raqcing P springs (1" drop), J&M caster/camber plates, and a B&M adjustable panhard bar in the wind. Oh, and a set of black lug nuts to match the new wheels.
Just had to share. Yay for new speed parts!

I got a bonus once, it was pretty cool. Got lunch at burger king...TWICE!
Peeked at your garage on your profile and saw we drive the same cars, albeit mine are older. You have good taste.
Congrats on the bonus and the speed parts.
Last time I got a bonus I was all set and ready to buy go fast parts... then I told my wife about it.
"We" got tickets to Disney instead.
LOL. I've had the rims for a year. When I told my wife I was going to get the tires for them she said "About time. I'm proud of you for just buying the rims when you saw them at sucha good price. I never thought you'd wait this long to put tires on them."
Then I mentioned I was thinking about spending another $700 on lowering it. She said "Why not? That seems cheaper than I would have thought."
And that (among many other reasons) is the reason we've been married 18 years!
And the tires are on the rims and waiting for me to pick them up after work. I'll take them home and slap them on the pony. Still no word on when the springs and stuff will ship. American Muscle takes forever to pack and ship stuff that's supposedly "in stock" but the shipping's free, so....
I picked up the wheels and tires after work yesterday, then ran home and threw them on the car. Didn't get a chance to drive it until coming to work this morning, but it's foggy-drizzly and in no way good weather to test tires.
But it looks cool!
New and old:
Picture doesn't accurately show the small difference in dimension. Old was 255/50-17, new is 275/40-18. Slightly wider, same height. Maybe 1-2 lb heavier for the combo? hard to tell when most the tread is gone on the old tires, and I didn't care enough to put it on a scale.
Mounted:
this is basically the exact same pic that's in my profile garage, but with new rims/tires.
About as much tire as you can fit without other mods:
The 1" drop is really going to look good when it goes on. For some reason the car looks too high now, even though the tire height is almost dead equal.
initial thoughts...i dunno, seems okay? Rides smooth, no weird issues up to 55 around town. It seems to accelerate a littel slower and take a little more brake pedal to stop. Could just be the wet weather, or maybe they added more weight than I thought. I'll have to wait for dry weather (next WEEK) for any real testing. But Damn they look cool!
