Molded in color is not fun to deal with sometimes, but I can live with it. My usual "lay paint on way too thick" strategy works well in this scenario.

Psst, there are model kits made that are not AMC products.

I'm not going to judge. I've got almost that many F-4 Phantoms.

Uhhh....
Also I'm either brave or stupid. I decided that I hated the green AMX with no stripes, so...
I really hope this works...
I see the street version Lancia Delta Integrale. Here are photos of it built. I saw a dark blue metallic one street parked in Milan in 1996, and it struck me as the best color. Every other street driven one I have seen has been red. This is Dodge Viper blue base coat/ clear coat.

I saw the Bobby Allison AMC Matador race a few times in person. My folks may still have a photo of me with him and that car when I was a kiddo. He was always one of the nicest drivers and always made time for kids. I cannot say the same for some of the others. I've thought of building the car my dad was the crew chief for that raced against this car. I would like to build the Matador too. I actually have a photo of them both in competion too. That would make a great duo

I have 1 too many Matador kits if you need one. I was going to put it on eBay but I'm happy to trade you for something.
I have a confession to make: big truck kits scare me.
I've had one in the stash for years now and I keep putting it off. It's a LN-8000 race car hauler and I really wanna build it but I think the number of parts to the frame is putting me off.
So, I thought I'd break the ice with a much simpler build: this 1/32 SnapTite Ford Aeromax. It's pretty simple and not that detailed, one-piece frame, no engine. Perfect for a truck noob like me.
It's molded in metallic red and I tried to just clearcoat it without painting. It didn't turn out great for whatever reason, but it's fine.
My stepdad has gotten way into playing American Truck Simulator, so maybe I'll give it to him for display next to his computer.
I decided to add some detail to the doors and steps. I ended up getting silver paint all over the place somehow and had to wipe it off with paint thinner and q-tips. What a mess.
I also pulled out this half-finished 1970 Ford sedan. (Is it an LTD? A Galaxie? Nobody knows, becuase I think they messed up and it's not quite accurate for either one. But it looks cool.) Instead of a police car, I'm making it a drag racing and street machine, becuase it's got a Boss 429 in it. Again, accuracy is not this kit's strong suit.
Working on the trim pieces and the interior. Somehow it came with no pedals and no shift lever, must be one o' those self-driving cars eh? I found pedals in the parts box and robbed a shifter from a junked old Ranchero build. I also angled the steering wheel up, because it was touching the seat. Now there's at least theoretically a chance that a skinny person could get their legs in there if the bench seat is squishy enough. (Not really, but i don't want to angle it up any more.)
I then proceeded to completely screw up the side trim by getting Molotow ink everywhere and then I threw it in the bath to start over. I hope my new red paint is close to the old red paint so I don't have to redo the wheels.

Is that Model Factory Hiro?
No, it was a Modelspace monthly subscription thing. I added all the scale hardware (every gold bolt) replacing the kit supplied screws, and added a lot. Added coolant and air lines, electrical fittings, etc. Full carbon decals.
My wife wanted to kill me... I've bought cheaper real cars, lol!
