I would have to somewhat disagree. I've driven a 97 and the chassis was fantastic for curvy back road hooning. The double wishbone front was the cleanest handling FWD I have ever driven. What killed it was that it belonged to SWMBO and had an auto. I cursed that slushbox every time I drove it.

mine was atleast manual. the car just had no personality and a severe lack of torque. great for mpg cruising though.

Just read in a Speedhunters article that a new Lotus dealership just opened in LA, don't know how far that is from you.

Another issue is driving at the limit on the street period. A less capable car allows you to get closer to that limit on the street, but you still shouldn't be there on the street, period.

Hooning around on the roads where unpredictable things can happen and you have to share the road with other motorists, motorcycles, bicyclists and pedestrians is just a bad idea...

That's sort of the point of this discussion: he's looking for a modern car that doesn't have to be driven at the limit on the street to be fun/exciting.

So I drove a 2002 NSX today, perfect cosmetic condition, needed a clutch in the future though and man that is about the right amount of power to have fun on the street without going nuts. Good handling and should be semi reliable. Man does it have no soul though, I think I need to take a step back and just come to the conclusion that I like old cars more then more modern cars and that I should just have a DD and something on the side. Trying to fit it all into one package is really difficult.

Part of it I think is that I have owned just about everything short of the full bore exotic and I keep trying to find that sort of experiance in something cheaper. Or just find a F360 in a stick and drive it only on sunny days or to work on Fridays.
