I've heard that tires have moved on past the Falken Azenis now. I need a set for my '91 CRX. It'll see just about all street use, but only about 7000 miles worth a year. The budget's not too tight here.
What's good and available in a 14" diameter, to fit a 14x6 wheel?

Falken Azenis.
No, seriously, there are a couple tires out there that are a hair quicker around an autocross course, but we are talking about a few tenths per minute. Of course, that renders the Azenis obsolete for national level autocross competition, but none of those tires are available in a 14" diameter, so the Azenis RT615 are clearly your best bet.

I think a better statement would be that tires have moved past 14 inch sizes now to tell the truth. But either the aznis or the comparable hankooks are probably the best tires for that size. Really even the majority of good tires arent even available in 15 inch sizes anymore.
^This is exactly why my E30 is now sitting on 17s.

And why my Miata is on 15s. Actually, aside from the Yoko Advans, all the good street tires come in 15" sizes. That's likely to remain the case because 15" tires still dominate STS and STS2 autocross, and the manufacturers making the good stuff still want their tires to be able to win.
Not a lot of 225, or greater, tires in 14 inches available anymore
Not alot of tires bigger than 225 in anything less than 17"
