Biggest issues with the RV motors is whether it's a real car/truck 440 or the RV/industrial 440. The RV ones special heads and exhaust manifolds, as well as some dished 7.5:1 or so pistons, and parts and performance are lackluster at best. The obvious way to spot them, since they use the same intakes and valve covers, is by the exhaust manifolds. Regular ones all the bolt holes are in line, like small block chevy, industrial motors they are staggered like the small block chrysler.

Regular 440 I've seen go for $100 as a core to $1k for a verifiable good runner, industrial motors I've picked up with under 30k miles and running excellent for under $150 on several occasions.

I have pics but none show the exhaust manifold bolts. front and rear of engine are clear, any other identifiers

Depends upon the year.

My friend Marc and I bought 3 complete 440 engines, one complete 440 short block, 13 sets of big block Mopar heads, a 12 bolt chevy rear and a 400 SBC for $775. I have a picture of the load.

I've found them for as low as 100, but usually in the 150-200 range. runners maybe a bit more.

I had to give away my last one...it was a runner with the trans and wire harness. Tried for 2 years to sell it. Need the room so out it whent. B and RB's used to be $350 and up just a 5 or so years ago...

My experience is closer to 44Dwarf's. A buddy just got one out of a late '70's van based RV. Standard production heads, etc not the industrial stuff. That and the RV version of the 727 was $350. The yard threw the trans in with the deal. The early forged crank motors are usually $350 up, the later cast crank motors tend to top out around that $350 number.

Wheel's post should have one of those diet pill style disclaimers on it. "Results not typical, your deal may cost more."
