How about craigslist stories? Trying to sell my Nissan Sentra and someone interested payed $100 for a pre purchase "inspection" that involved checking the paint for bondo (carfax says 0 accidents) and plugging it into a check engine scanner. When I pulled into the place they chose I was like crap someone here is going to get ripped off. I'm just glad it wasn't me!

Not an awesome CL photo, but awesome CL optimism at work. The best take on the old "I haven't done it but it just needs a $20 part and 10 minutes" line:

No heat = the heat inside the car does not blow HOT. I believe this may be the lower Temp sensor. This is an easy fix and the part is $25.00. I might replace this if I find the time before I sell it. It might also be the heater core. The heater core is $100.00 and a bit more difficult to replace but we could work something out.
