Don't get a Mustang. Lame. You're 16, in high school. No one likes the high school kid with a new Mustang. Especially if they don't know how to drive
Corollas are cool. Throw some wheels on it, some suspension, manual gearbox. Should get, what? 35 mpg? And be plenty of fun too.
You want something fast to thrash? Get a part time job and drag home a junker (Mom will love it, I know mine did ). Learn how to get in running, learn how to make it fast. Then get it running and make it fast.
It's your first car, treat it well and keep your money for something that you actually want. It's hard to make a Corolla something awesome without spending some redonkulus amount of money. Take the hubcaps off, learn how to detail a car and make it shiny! Also I second all of the folks mentioning auto-x, really wish I had done that when I first thought I was awesome in my 2002 Civic.
Lol a few kids at my school drive land rovers and new mustangs haha ill just join in haha use my resources and i know how to drive to also not like a professional
Just gonna throw this in: Im only 18 so im not much older than you and i would say keep the corolla. Having a cool fast ar is great (I DD a '80 280zx) but it sucks in high school. I got my Z in 11th grade and yea i was the kid with the coolest car but i was always broke because of gas and insurance. Save the fun til college at least. Wish i had listened to everyone saying that sometimes
I mean yes the car i have now is really cool i love it but you know i just wanna upgrade to something sportier haha
yea i should save up till college i think ill do that just depends on how things go...
lulz at recommending a Coyote car to a 16 year old.
From someone with track experience on sport bikes, Miata's, and 16+ years of road driving, that was a ton of car to handle.

Te37s, Motons and a dogbox tranny!
You'll be taken more seriously by typing out complete sentences and not replying to everything with "haha".
If you "people" think im a troll go and post somewhere else cause im not a troll.
I just came on here to ask for some helpful car tips and what stuff to do and stuff to not do to my car.
You are getting a lot of advice but we can't make you listen to any of it.
I am taking all of your guy's advice i really am and i am really thinking about what is the best thing to do

OP, you'll notice that most of us at least make an effort to punctuate properly, and we'd appreciate the same. It exists for a reason: readability. Your posts require far too much effort for me to read, which tends to make me disinclined to read your posts, which further tends to make it unlikely I'll be able to offer you any advice.
Further, I'd encourage you to spend some time lurking around here. It's not your typical car forum.
Welcome.

Don't do anything to it and learn to drive first. Seriously.
The BMW survival school, an auto-x, a defense driving course, I also personally suggest reading motorcycle books like "Proficient Motorcycling" and "More Proficient Motorcycling" to help with your street awareness.
Hi, I'm Bob. I don't think I saw your name anywhere.
Is your corolla a manual transmission or automatic?
This thread took a nosedive very quickly. I don't see pulling out of it any time soon either (lol, haha etc.)
Seriously though, I lurked here for almost two years before I posted.
If there's one thing I noticed its that this forum is a very tight community of car enthusiasts.
I've been working on cars, trucks, motorcycles and snowmobiles for 25 years yet most of the members here make me look like a total amateur by comparison.
I don't want to sound like I'm speaking for everyone here but this place IS NOT VW VORTEX or some of the other forums out there. Please do like I did/do and read, read, read then ask specific questions with plenty of relevant info and LISTEN to the advice given. The experience and knowledge you will gain from these guys us invaluable and not to be taken for granted or wasted.
Ok. You have a great appliance car, as they call it. Great for commuting and not a helluva lot else.
Find an autocross event near you and try out the sport, see if you like it. If you enjoy it, which you should, save your coin for a good set of performance wheels and tires. Tires will have the best impact dollar for dollar. Autocross the E36 M3 out of it and enjoy the fact that you have a nice car to drive around everyday. Don't try to make it something it isn't.
If you are ready for a performance car, save up your cash and buy another one. Don't trade the corolla in for one. Once you get into the performance car, you'll realize they are being modded and repaired more than they are on the road. The corolla will keep the miles off your nice car and keep it in good shape. It literally will save you money to have both.
Or you could just neutral drop the corolla until it doesnt run anymore and have a good time doing it.
Yes, please use punctuation and capitalize "I" when it's used. I feel like I'm being texted by my 14 year-old babysitter. There are some forums where you'll get kicked off if you don't write correctly.
Anyway.... The first thing I do before buying a car (or in your case getting one), I research as much as I can for weeks. learn the potential of the car and all of the great cheap mods I can do. Then I start to ask questions. Let me ask, is it fwd, rwd, or awd? You gotta know what you have before panicking and just grabbing a mustang. Seriously, do you know what you have or are you googling it right now? I'm not being trying to be rude, just trying to slow you down a bit and remind you where you are. Many guys will help you here if you make some effort. I say stick to what you have as it's cheaper and a great platform for learning. Then you can do what we do and get 3 more cars that fulfill the needs that aren't met with the first car.

Why don't you like the new car that your grandma bought for you that you just said you love two pages ago?
I think you should tell grandma thanks, but no thanks. Save up and buy your own car with your own money. You will have more respect for something you worked for.
