Pretty much exactly this car

Surprising when you consider there were 5 kids in the family

Airbags?

Seatbelts?

Unique non creative cargo options?

4 out of 5 of us are still here to talk about it.

My sister had a 1975 Pinto wagon in that same metallic blue and woodgrain as her first car. She had to make do with the factory wheels though. I really liked that car when I was a kid.

My mother didn't have her own car when I was a kid, but I spent most of my childhood in her mother's '67 Plymouth Belvedere II hardtop. My mother always drove and grandma sat in the passenger's seat. I still remember every little detail of that car. Eventually, I owned it when I was in high school.

The first car that my parents bought specifically for my mother was a new metallic brown Mazda 626 Luxury sedan in 1981 or 82. Mom and I really wanted a first generation Accord, but my father liked the Mazda and he had the final word. It was a good choice. We all loved that car.

No pics,

The longest running was an '85 Gran Marquis from '88-'97. Triple grey with a vinyl half top and velour.

Overall, Fox body sedan, two panthers, an acclaim, two Taurii, an Accord, and now a legacy.

The first car I remember my mom driving me around in was an 85 Black Monte Carlo, 305, dog bowl wheels, and my older brother (way older) drove it too when mom didn't need it. I remember his friends had etched their names into the B pillar plastic and my dad about fit his foot up their ass.

During my high school years, mom had a 96 Tahoe. Even though I had my own car, I used to borrow it all the time to go off-roading, go to the beach, tote 15 of my friends around in. I was most sad to see that car go. I would love to have one of my own.

Mom currently rocks a 2007 C7 Z51 Vette 6-spd.

Most of my child hood memories involve mom driving us around in one of those. First we leased a red one then at some point before I was 10 we leased a white one and then bought it off the lease. I remember fighting over who got to sit in the tailgunnner seat. On camping trips we'd fill the back with gear and the smallest of the 4 siblings would ride on the fold down middle seat in front. We had it until I was in college when the underbody rust got so bad a jack went through a lifting point. That was a sad day.

Before the Tauri mom drove us around in an 80s Chevy Van. I remember thinking it was awesome when the muffler fell off.

Mom drove an epic '63 Lincoln with suicide doors. Apparently the Lincoln was too fast and she traded it in for an AMC Rambler. Anyway, I do remember the Lincoln and the smell of the leather interior.

I want to tell you a story about my mom. It was around 1967 and she was barely scraping by, raising me by herself with help from a few friends. She drove an early 50s Chevy named "dinosaur". Well when the brake shoes wore down and started squealing, mom was too proud to ask for money from her parents and too poor to pay a mechanic, so she went to the local community college and paid 5 bucks for a class in auto mechanics. Shortly thereafter, Fred Mork was walking down the street and took notice of a pretty young lady. That young lady was my mother, and she had the car up on jackstands and was sitting on the curb working on Dinosaur's brakes. Fred said to himself "I really admire that woman's spunk!" So he sat down next to her and helped her finish the brake job. That was 50 years ago, and their marriage has been a great one. At this moment they are 30 thousand feet in the air on their way to Amsterdam, where they'll get on a boat and explore some of the great cities and waterways of Europe. Thanks mom, for teaching me that the most valuable thing in the world is a good attitude.

My mom's first car that wasn't shared was a '71 Maverick with an anemic 6 cylinder. It became my summer car when I first got my license. My friends and I did horrible things to that car but it kept on ticking. Who knew it could almost make it across the local sand pit?
