I've got one car with the top of the shoulder belt attached to the door and a separate lap belt. I need to change that to a conventional 3-point belt one of these days.
My old Escort had one of those motorized belts. More than once, I opened the door and stuck my helmeted head out, only to have it trapped up against the A pillar.
I don't miss it.
My 93 Eagle Talon had them. Hated them...
I only had one car, a Mercury Tracer wagon, that had those motorized killers. Oh, wait, I think the Saturn SL1 I owned for a little while may have also had them, but they didn't always work in that car.
Just to complete the sentence that you started with your title. "Motorized mice seatbelts are the bane of my existence." So many cars I love have them. Hate them so much..
I'm sort of glad that Canada largely outlawed them. Unfortunately it cost us the B13 SE-R. :(
MX6 and Escort both had/have them. They didn't work in the Escort, worked just fine in the MX6.
SVX has them, and to be honest, now that I'm used to them, I really don't mind. It has, however, caused the unfortunate problem in my other cars where I try to get out without first taking the seatbelt off. This is quite entertaining for passengers.

I've heard of peeps. Peeps are those marshmallow candies you see at Easter. I have no idea what a "snapchat" is.

My wife isn't a fan... she doesn't particularly enjoy the belt as it finds its way between her boobs

This shouldn't be a problem, because if you are not doing up the lap belt along with the motorised belt, you will tear you liver in half when you have a collision.
Motorised shoulder belts are one of the most dangerous things ever invented.
So how did you explain that even though the seatbelt is automatic, you still have to buckle yourself in?

I told her that things were primitive back in the '90s.
My mother's '89 Accord coupe had the non-motorized but still door-mounted seat belts. They were supposed to swing out of your way as you opened the door. What really happened is that you left them buckled and had to get in and out of the car through a spiderweb, or you unbuckled them and then slammed the door on the hanging buckle and berked up the door card.
