well, yes, its all unsurprisingly in the first post actually. i would plan to keep it cheap, 5-10k USD (so roughly up to 100k nok). the train will cover 90% of my actual transportation requirements so i really dont need the car, so rather than trying to get something practical, i am aimed at figuring out whether there is a something i could pick up that would be unique (not available USDM) and fun to drive - cruise in the summer, maybe a road trip, and also could teach the girlfriend to drive stick. despite my better interests, i also tend to like old/classic cars, but realistically a late 80s early 90s model that was a notoriously fun car that we didnt get stateside would be best. hence the list that has developed: subaru WRX, peugeot 205, turbo volvo, ford escort mk1, etc.

oh!!!! thats cheap too! says would need to get registered with 1600 engine.. i really need to figure out what the registration process is over there, seen a couple imported cars that would be great. also need to look into garage situation while im over there next week....

amen! high on teh search list, and on that note, since i keep popping up 5th and 6th gen escorts, how are they as far as fun to drive? i believe they are all RWD.

Anyone familiar with those little ol Ford carb setups (mancha??) - are any more reliable or less maintenance prone than others?

Also, the general rule of thumb is: anywhere a small carbureted engine exists, there then exists an adapter plate that will allow for the installation of a weber 32/36 or a manifold for multiple weber side drafts (DCOE), 
But with carburetors I hardly worry about reliability though. A wise man once told me that 90% of carburetor problems are actually other problems in disguise
These days, 90% of carburetor problems tend to be found at the other end of the screwdriver.
Fair enough but, for instance, the Holley on my Z right now is insanely consistent and worry-free.
I'm somewhat considering taking my Z over there now, and then maybe selling before I come back... I have a hot rod race car project I've been wanting to build for a long time...
plus also then maybe I could drive it in gatebil etc haha!
Consider the time it's going to take for the shipment to reach you. There will be a period where you'll be there and it wont.
I know Norway has a HUGE american car enthusiast market there, but generally you don't see many Japanese vehicles in Europe. that may or may not affect your selling ability.

The original World Street Nationals shootout drag race was between a whole ship full of cars from Norway and Finland that went to Florida to race the US guys. It was pretty intense! 1992 IIRC, and I was there. The nordic guys actually street raced after the drag race was done!

A Norwegian buddy gave me a ton of those magazines (AMCar) when I bought my Impala in Hungary. He and his American car buddies were getting ready for a trip across route 66 (the whole club was shipping their cars over here, and then back again).
Insane group those Norwegian american car fans...
you know.... I should send you my car to sell over there. We could jack up the price and split the profits!

Did a bit of research, very original cars in very good condition seems to be top dollar. which is kind of the opposite of my car hahaha
