Thinking out loud (typing on a car forum) there's about eleventybillion options for Mustang II front subframe/suspension conversions, seem real popular in the hot rod community.
Someone posted a link in another thread to a bunch of prefab tabs, mounts, suspension components, etc. and I realized how affordable some of the "kits" are. Then looking at their photos of the kit installed, they had a 240 with their Mustang II coilover kit on it, and that got the wheels turning.
Anyone have experience with these? Is it all it's cracked up to be? Plenty of folks have gotten the MacPherson front end on the 240 to handle well, plenty of aftermarket bits available, so the Mustang II stuff might not be worth the effort.
Just like anything you get what you pay for or what you have the skill to build. I have seen real clean kits installed by good builders, but I have seen E36 M3 booger welded out of chinesium onto more than a few cars.
If I had a straight axle a M2 front end might make sense but for something with a following like I don't think a M2 conversion would be any better. If you are going to go through the trouble you might as well go all out and get something Corvette based.
There's better and worse out there.
Depending on what you are looking at putting it in, it may be better or worse than what you already have.
You can make them turn pretty good, but not as good as some other options.
That being said, its a huge variable. Im a bigger fan of gm metric chassis stuff because cheap circle track parts, and I know them intimately.

I just welded one in a 1969 Mustang for someone and the total cost hub to hub with the brakes was like $1300. When you consider what it was replacing, I just don't see how you can go wrong.
Course, since the owner is putting a Coyote in the engine bay, it's not like he had a choice.

The original reason the Mustang II front suspension became so popular was that it was cheap, and the right width to fit under most popular street rods/hot rods. It's not because it's an exceptionally good suspension.
yeah i am not a huge fan. i spent about $1599 for mine in the belair. unfortunately i built the car prior to the new panthers with the unboltable crossmember, or i'd have gone that way.
