Anybody here ever disassembled a 2000-2004 Mustang front seat? I noticed that there is abou 3/4 inch of play where the seat back adjuster is bolted to the bottom of the seat, allowing the seatback to rock back and forth. Just wondering if anyone has had this problem and what you did to fix it. Will be disassembling it later, just curious.
Does it have the "detroit lean"? IF ti does the upper frame is just spotwelded to the bracket and they are broke. Reweld, reassembly, and enjoy.

Ranger,
Trying to remove the seat now. Unscrewed the plastic cover that covers the seat back adjuster and there is a 13mm bolt that seems to hold everything in place. That bolt has sheared in two from my fat ass getting in and out over the years. Thought I'd be smart and use the one from the passenger side, but it seems the other half is preventing that so I have to pull the berkleying seat anyways. Hopefully replacing that bolt will solve the problem.
I had a similar problem with an 03, the upper half would move back and forth. Turned out the spot welds on the seat frame broke loose across the bottom of the upper part. Check that if the other areas are okay.

No welds were involved. Everything else seemed ok, just the sheared bolt. Pulled the seat, took off the motors to get to the bolt half still in the threads, had a friend grab it with some vicegrips and twist it out. Took bolt from passenger side and reassembled the seat. Just need to find another one before someone rides shotgun. I've got time.
I fixed mine with the "throw out that stock crap and replace it with a Sparco" trick

Rev,
I thought about that, but my big butt and small bank account wouldn't allow that.
