If you really want to wake up the handling, put a Fays2 watts link on the rear. I installed one about a year or so ago. Best $600 spent on the car so far.

I have sworn an oath never to be sucked into a US built or designed automobile. This was based on an observation that I made in 1975 that US car makers have no interest in the youth market.
While I continue to cling to this mind set, and preach it to those who ask, You and the Mustang are not helping.
I predicted the fall of GM on this board five years ago and you all laughed at me.( Actually, some of y'all were rude!) Ford might yet change my mind about a US car maker having a future. GM, still has not figured it out.
I did 5 laps in a V6, manual 2011 Mustang yesterday. Other than mediocre tires, and poor brake pads, the car was a hoot. Much, much faster than I expected. It was kind of surreal to shift a Mustang at seven thousand rpm . . .

Hrrmmmm, they're still building and winning on much bigger stages with the Corvette. I'm not saying they have it together as a car company, but they do know something about building winning race cars, JMO...
I would never dispute the talent that exist within GM's walls. They have the potential to build the best cars on the planet.
What I claim is that for whatever reason, GM management has always had an inward looking view of the world. This seems to keep them from building relevant product for the times. I found an illustration of this management style

Wow , thats pretty close minded. I have had the joy ofautocrossing a well prepped RS America 964 - a 06 997 S (also worked over) for the last 17 years. I have owned an E36 M3 and quite a few other cars. I can tell you the mustang is on par with any of them in terms of handling and power. The proof is in the #'s.. At this seasons autocross events I am always in the top 5 in terms of times. Which includes being competitive with ZOOmiata's elise.
I think your illustration shows how in the dark you really are. Esp when a new 5.0L will run on par with a m3.......

unless you made this observation while still in diapers, you are no longer in the youth market.

To be fair GM and Ford are both building more cars I would like to have then Honda, Toyota, Subaru, and Nissan.
If that Mustang stays reliable, I know what I will be buying in 2 years. Please keep the updates coming!

If it's anything like my 03 GT, looks like you'll be owning one in a couple of years. Mines got over 190k on the clock, only things that came out of left field was the spitting of the #3 sparkplug and the failure of the traction control module. Replaced the clutch a while back and just had the suspension rebuilt with the Bullitt suspension kit and poly bushings. Shame on Ford for discontinuing the Bullitt/Cobra brakes just as I'm finally ready for them. Starting to save up for an engine rebuild, which will require a new tranny as well.
I'm another S197 convert. We bought ours this past spring and we love it. It was supposed to be the wife's driver but we've both decided that we're going to make it a 3 season hot rod and Solo car. Like it enough that the ITA Neon is going up for sale and all efforts are going toward the Mustang...

We have a local go-kart track (kind of like the "Ocala Gran Prix" track GRM does testing on) that is approximately 70 seconds long. A bone stock (engine) S197 mushtang with some suspension work and re11's runs in the 68's... awd evo's on re11's with good suspensions setups run 64's (but making 350whp), the fastest time ever there in a car is in the 62's (fully prepped 500whp GT touring car). I can do high 69's, low 70's with a bone stock 1995 STi with RE11's.
The mushtang is sexy, fast, and makes all the right noises. Tough to decide between S197 or a 4th gen camaro
