I so incredibly want this car.
The '62 D'Jet was one of the first production mid-engine cars (does the 550 Spyder count as production?). It weighs in around 1500lbs and the Jet6 has over 100 hp. My X1/9 was around 2000lbs and only had 75hp.
Fully independent suspension, disc brakes at all 4 corners, coilovers out back.
The Jet is one car that could make me break my $1500 rule.

You have good taste in dream cars!
Cool car. The owner's photography skills leave a little to be desired, as in not putting the cars bets face forward. This car reminds me a little of those South American built Renault Alpine cars, although it sounds lilke more of a performer from your description.
Is there supposed to be a firewall between the engine and passenger compartment?

Yeah, that's a lousy looking auction.
But wow. I just know that one of these days I'm going to succumb to the oddness of a french car, and posts like this don't help

Awesome. And pretty good value considering how much a similar Abarth sells for - http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300394471728&viewitem=#ht_500wt_1182 Or an Alpine A110 for that matter.
So bid on it. If it really is a dream of yours, get it. Or at least really try to get it.

I recently watched a TopGear where they had a segment about abarth's crazy antics. "driving with the bonnet open, and having rear seats that are near literally impossible to get into" Sure enough, this one applies.

I have not the financials to support the purchase.... one day though.
