I thought the car was really awesome, before I even knew it was modeled after the interceptor!

I was thinking of the crash that ended it for "I'm the Night Rider!"...but yeah, the camper trailer crash would be cooler!

trust me, i noticed too, it was a "doh" moment after being so focused to get it level. Oh well.
Haha, how did I miss this? Brilliant job!
Do mods/cosmetics count in the BABE budget or is it just the purchase price?

just the purchase price, but the idea is that you don't want to do any sort of restoration or improvement and I guarantee you, the closer you look at it, the worse it looks. I've fixed a few things (brakes, shocks, plugs and wires, fuel filter and clutch to make it move), but other than that, its pretty much stock from '78.
Ever since the end of last year's rally I've been jonesing to do this theme and when this car appeared on craigslist, I knew I'd be rockin it in full MFP regalia before '09 BABE. Next comes the electrical work and wiring up the loudspeaker, interior speaker, lights and cb radio (as soon as I acquire those). Once that's done, I'll be ready to hit the road for BABE.
I must be old, uncool, or both because I don't know what movie this car is from. Are you allowed to enlighten me, or is sort of a Stonecutters thing where those who don't know, can't know?

so what are you saying? The GRM sticker on the drivers rear fender doesnt add the advertised 10% HP gain or 18% better female acqusition factor

Indeed it is, the guys at the junkyard were looking at me quizzically when I told them I needed the front lip spoiler off a truck (ended up being an F150) and the tail spoiler of a foxbody mustang notchback.
As a cautionary note, you may want to figure out a way to disable or cover the lights. (You did say you'd have gumball lights?) Real cops really hate them and you may get hassled or ticketed. Don't want the Man to ruin your fun.

considering they will be yellow hazard lights (as opposed to blue and red ones), I don't see why a cop would be justified in pulling me over for them or that they would piss decent cops off anymore than a brightly colored car. There is always the risk of running into a Barney Fife who will just write me a BS ticket, but no reason to let the risk of that shut down my plans. In any case, we don't plan to be running them constantly, mainly just for show while parked or for a moving picture shot while on some backwoods road, they shouldn't really attract attention anyway.
Sorry if I seem a bit short. I just got pulled over for the worst offense imaginable, "failure to come to a complete stop at a stop sign". God help us all, I'm a menace to society.
Yellow lights generally wont get them too up in arms, the blues and reds do. Dont run them while driving of course as they are technically reserved for emergency vehicles such as tow trucks.
For the questions about budget and stuff, you could spend thousands on themeing and gain only applause. Generally repairs should be kept to safety type items but when it comes to "cosmetics" in pursuit of a theme you cannot do too much :)
BABE is really low key on the budget, there is only the most cursory (if any) check of the purchase price, but the bottom line is, bring something too nice and you will be penalized, you might not even know its happening, but it will happen. If you think its too nice, it probably is. The point is to nurse a beater across the miles not prove you can score a deal on a car.
The yellow lights may also come in handy if you have to come to your own rescue on the side of the road.
