6.2 GM diesels are to avoided, IMHO. The rest is just noise. Surely you can find a 7.3 Powerstroke for that kinda money out there in rust country.

I'll try to translate the more confusing parts and add punctuation:

I have a 1983 gmc 1ton 4x4 6.2l diesel. 4 door [extra] cab up for sale [has] less than 70000 true miles [unintelligible] truck is in great shape for the year. it has a Eton 2 speed transfer box, 4 speed manual trans, [extremely hard spring pack], ive loaded this thing to the hilt and have yet to move the springs. [I'd] get any where from 15 to 18 miles to the gallon for fuel, just like anything [it] just depends on where u like to keep ur right foot at tho. i have never [mudded or jumped] this truck since i have owned it but it [has] been off road if that makes [sense]. now for the CONS of the truk, [it] does have a hole in floor of the [driver's side] of truck and the eaton box does not [shift into] low, i think the elictric moter that switches it broke, not sure tho, i havent had time to [get into it]. it drives just fine in hi [transfer case gear] and still gets great fuel milage and it does need tires, they are ok, just getting to [the point that you would need new tires for offroading or winter]. it [is] a great truck since i have had it and has done my familly well, but im getting a devorce and only have 1 kid and have lawer to pay for so kinda need it gone. im asking for 4500 OBO, willing to trade for another manual trans truck plus some cash [too] if the deals right. call or text anytime after 7am, not after 10pm, can send pics on request

PS STACKS DONT GO WITH TRUCK i have a [aluminum diamond plate] tool box thats goes [with the truck] tho and do have the [2 speed transfer case] working again

So we both got totally lost at the same point, and are equally confused about the state of the transfer case.

It sounds like about halfway through xletust and jimbob hit the sumbifch with a hammer and it shifted.

The part after where he says it has 70k miles is that he still drives it regularly so the odometer reading keeps increasing (or "due change"). I don't think he was talking about a transfer case, I think it was a gear splitter box that would would no longer shift to the low setting, but he has since fixed it.
