I may be the outlier here, and December in PA is not the time to do such s thing outdoors, but I feel like a solid weekend cleaning, waxing, polishing from tires to roof would really help the value a good bit versus the $100ish in materials it would take.
Who knows, you get it all shined up you might even want to keep it.
That's not going to buff out.

Didn't look as rough on my phone. Yea, that won't buff out.
Still looks a better deal than a lot of local crap though.
it seems to me non ls powered GM performance cars of that era are not worth anything. See price differences between LS and Non LS 4th gen camaros. C4 vs C5 vette, even LS vs non LS trucks
I like the tow car idea a lot. Here's a potentially great plan.
1. Find me a good IMCA Sport Compact.
2. Pay for it and pick it up.
3. Tow it to AZ. Note: the magic of this is you now have road tested the tow vehicle.
4. Leave the good IMCA Sport Compact with me.
5. If you did not like how the Impala towed you can leave that too. Note: the magic of that is you no longer have to be concerned with what to do with the Impala.
You're Welcome
a) Start offering limo service with it, and put some live hookers in the back seats.
I'm so torn on what to do with mine. Currently thinking throw it on a lift and forget about it until I'm ready to build something for drag week
I always wanted to do a full NASCAR treatment to a street car.

I didn't look for a door, but a black right front fender on car-part.com this morning was available for $200. Don't know about shipping costs... but that might be worth doing for the price. I dunno. Peanut gallery here may have an opinion.

I read this as "throw a lift on it"...

Like the SS that I did an engine replacement in, that came to the shop on 26" wheels?
Ah, yes, THAT is why I have the complete wiring harness and computer for an LT1 in my garage...

You could trade it to me for a Baja Bug.
I am going to regret this later, but.... details?

That thing would be worth more with straight panels in the wrong paint color than it is now. Maybe just find a cheap wagon (with a straight body...) and do an SS conversion on it.
I actually have straight panels from a low-mile Caprice. Just haven't had any time in the last 6 years since those dents to put them on.
Wagon conversion does sound neat.

Those things have pretty significant tow capacities don't they? Would be a very cool tow vehicle.
The actual published tow rating is lower than a Caprice despite being better equipped... marketing choice, but I have towed 3500 with it and it did OK. The trailing arms are super weak in these, but an upgrade could help things.

Clarify: Do you think $3500 is not enough, or you think there is no hope of him finding that much money?
I'd laugh all the way to the bank if I got 3500 for that.
I would laugh as well. It is clearly not worth $3500. If the body work got done, new seats, and a dash pad, maybe.
I got some lowball offers in the $300 range which just pissed me off.

Will it make a cross country trip?
I don't see why not. It hasn't been driven much in the last 4 years or so, but it starts every time. Tires good, brakes good, brand new exhaust, good battery, recent fuel pump and starter. The old starter busted because of a suspected bent flexplate but I haven't put eyes on it. I would drive it cross country.

Ok. Good. I know you don't need another project, but one of the coolest 64 Impala two door hardtops I've ever seen has the interior and suspension (Maybe the entire frame, I don't know) from one of those. Grey leather, dash, wheels, the whole nine yards. The interior either fits right in there with no problem, or the dude is a talented fabricator.
My neighbor across the alley has a gently crashed black 64 Impala two door hardtop.
I have no need of another project, either.

Why swap to an LS? Didn’t we just learn a month or so ago that the fastest stick shifted F body on the planet was a turbo’d LT1 like what’s in this one?
I actually have a TNET1247 viper T56 converted to a GM front and tail that could go in it. I've been planning that project for about 12 years.

Vortec 8.1 swap
I think if I swapped anything into it, it would be a tuned up Duramax, but transmission choices would be limiting. An Allison or NV5600 would drag the ground which leaves me with a very expensive 4L80E build.
I thought about going weird with it; Hemi, Viper V10, or an AMG V12. If it weren't so bloody complicated, I'd do a TDI V12 out of a Q7

Zip code where car is located? If your location on screen is accurate, 2795 miles from me.
are all emissions equipment Oem with catalytic converters in place, when you did new exhaust ?
I have 3 cars for sale now. All will be gone by x mas
of course I shouldn't buy another - but money is burning a whole in pocket

The Cadillac version of that platform is rated for 7000 lbs with the tow package. How different can it be in real life?
