Progress!

The Wing Mounts I knocked out on the CNC Mill at work. I LOVE having a CNC to play with again. I really need one at home.

Wing Mounts welded to tube...

...and then to kart.

Wing Installed.

Again.

More CNC fun. I needed an air filter to carb adapter. So I made one. With a radiused inlet. :)

Installed.

Throttle cable/spring/stop assembly bodged together with stuff from Ace Hardware.

Went to the Depot and found some drawer pulls that would work with a 3" Latch and Link lap belt. Belt to be used to hold cooler to kart. Test fitting the webbing and the drawer pull. Worked great.

Lap belt installed. Really pleased with the way this turned out.

On the ground, rapidly approaching the end of the mock-up stage. I checked and I should have enough diamond plate to remake the forward floor pan out of it. In theory it's drivable, but by the time I got to that point it was 10:00 and my wife convinced me not to be "that guy".

Max Downforce y0! I mean - it is nationals after all.

Need to get and install the other belt. Need to make the floor pan. Wing needs end plates. May or may not make it narrower. Need to test drive. Then it gets blown apart for paint.

You can thank me later. With a cold beer and a place to set it.

Needs more electric motor for torquey wheelies and less smelly smoke machine on the back. Otherwise, looks like a heck of a lot of fun.

Yeah...but the extension cord would probably get all tangled up.

Oh...and...AWESOME build. Thanks for sharing!

Last couple of nights work...

Fabricated a floorpan out of the same diamond plate scrap that contributed to my hood scoop.

Stripped down and ready for paint.

Bottom painted. Krylon Flat Black FTW.

Top painted.

Again.

Ready for reassembly.

Floor Pan reinstalled.

Steering wheel painted red and reinstalled.

Rear wheels polished and installed.

New throttle cable configuration after being called out by a buddy.

Red calipers = mad tite.

Finished. Drives much better with new front wheel bearings. Old ones were somewhere between E36 M3ty and scary.

Again

Again, with the Snot Rocket.

Wing needs endplates--will help with side bite. I think a cushioned pad for the top of the cooler would be in order as well. Past that, its fabulous.

And the end plate will need bottle openers riveted to them (like the old bar bottle openers) One Pepsi or Coke the other Old Milwaukee or something similarly 1979.

First off that is GREAT!!!!!

Now what I would consider adding.

Indy car theme = add front wing and some sort of side pod's (places to store snacks and chips) Oh wait Bear Nuts!!!!!

Sprint car theme = ????? Not sure how to roll with this one Add a front wing as a place to sit put beverages. Big overhead wing as a table / work bench / bar with back stop? Ok not my best idea.
