When I bought my F500 I said I'd run the obsolete AMW motor (the company is out of business) until it blew up.
After the vintage race I did last weekend we did a compression test; the right cylinder is 70psi and the left is 55psi. The motor was still pulling 7800 rpm. It also starts right up.
Clearly the motor has joined the undead.
Are you going to honor your initial pledge to run it till it goes???
I have had engines like that. One the guy who tested it was surprised it ran at all, let alone how good it actually ran.
In reply to Tom1200 :
Trustworthy compression tester? Either way, I'd still run it if oil pressure was looking good and power felt fine.
Oil pressure is non existent.......its a two stroke.
I am attempting to run it until it goes blam but I will putting rings in it, possibly even new cylinders as I have some spares. Plus I have another engine of the same brand to blow up as well. This may take some time as the other motor now as one track day, two race weekends & something like 35-40 auto crosses.
After those are gone I will put the Rotax motor in.
Ahhh one of those motors that does not know it should stop working.
Wait. A zombie motor?
