My car is paid for, fairly economical, has four doors, a man pedal, sounds good, and is tough as nails.

I drive it every day. I've done all the work on it. So what if it has a rebuilt title, I don't plan on selling it, ever. I went on my honeymoon in it, it brought my baby home from the hospital in it. It's only ever seen full synthetic, every 5000 miles. So what if it quits, I'll rebuild it, and keep going.

150,000 miles, still as much fun as ever.

So, what is it?

Sorry, pretty important detail, huh?

I'll see if I can snap some pics tommorrow, but it's a 2001 Nissan Sentra, last of the SR20's, which are always a hot commodity one week before racewars.

Overnight parts from Japan

In case anyone is curious, the factor of safety used when engineering the SR20 was OVER 9000!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I drive it every day. I've done all the work on it. So what if it has a clean title, I don't plan on selling it, ever. It tells women that I'm not interested in a family yet, so no need to worry about room for children. It's only seen synthetic, every 3000 miles. Who cares if the engine dies? I'll put an LS7 in and keep trucking along.

50,000 miles, still as much fun as ever.

My love is long gone, 94 Ranger with suspension kit 3.55 trac loc and a 4.0L with a stick.

She turned the quarter right at 15 secs and 88 mph. Not bad at the time given 5.0 Mustangs were only about 2 mph faster. Fun to go through the twistys too

Can you tell I was a fan of the SCCA ITT truck series?

It was an awesome series that never got its full promotion. And who says trucks and specifically I-beam Rangers can't handle???

And to be on topic: I most of the time hate mine. It's an auto that gets abysmal mileage and most of the time handles like crap. But it is so far been reliable as an anvil with the amounts of neglected maintenance it endures. 120k and still soaking up the miles.

You had to fiddle with them to get them to turn, but completely doable.

The biggest weakness of my Ranger was the gearbox. That torquey 4.0L 160 hp V6 had great low end and midrange punch. Nice for 3rd gear low speed corners. But the Mazda sourced 5 speed just wasn't all that.

I miss my truck

This "factor of safety was over 9000" thing: Are you saying that the SR20 was engineered to be 9000 times as strong as it needed to be? This sounds like a weird, but cool, decision for a profit-making organization. Details? Source?

It is much overbuilt, yes...

I'm not so much a fan of the valvetrain design, but as long as you aren't spinning it to the moon and/or bouncing rev limiter constantly, it's entirely sufficient.

In reply to Stealthtercel:

I am willing to bet that was an exaggeration from the FF vibe of the conversation.
