After test driving the Mazda2 and Accent back to back I ended up going with the Accent. I used to own a white 5 speed Accent and I really miss it so that may have had some influence on my decision.
Things I really liked about the 2: I LOVED the gear box, that little car shifts so nicely! The suspension was quite eventful, too. Very nice feel, sport without being overly rough, very nicely damped. The pregnant gf liked the ride in the 2 much more. The engine made great power everywhere (well, for what it is). Throttle response was fantastic.
However, with all that being said I ended with a 2011 Accent stripper model. Five speed, manual windows and locks, no cruise or radio. But with my commute (47 miles one way) I figured the warranty might come into play.
I love this car, its so light and tossable. Short essential mod list includes short throw shifter, radio, bass tube and tinted windows. Oh, and cruise, I'm thinking of retrofitting a steering wheel with cruise and stereo controls already on it.
Now, hopefully the pics will load as I'm doing the picture hosting via the photobucket app...
cool, congrats.
the accent forum on hyundai-forums.com has a lot of useful info on the 3rd gen model.
also hmaservice.com and its free FSM's
hyundaiparts4u.com has really low prices on all the oem accessories like the b&m short throw you mentioned. FYI 2006-2011 are all the same so you may have to search under other years to find the parts you want.

Do you mind asking what you paid? I saw an ad in the newpaper over the weekend for this car at $7900. I went to dealer website and couldn't figure out the particulars of the offer. They had base models online for like 10k.
Something is funky in the code, PB puts some type of viewer info in there when you try to copy the image location to the right of the image where all the encoded texts are. I just right clicked the actual image and copied its location that way, and it worked.
I usually use the direct code from photobucket and the IMG tag generator here without much trouble.
Interesting that you chose the Accent over the Mazda. I have no experience with either, but the chatter is that the 2 drives very much like a Miata.
I don't know if that speaks more to the prowess of the Accent or your tastes as a car buyer
Thanks Pumpkin. LOL! Never thought I'd say that on here.
Well Reverend, I liked how both cars rode but a combination of price, warranty and missing my old one transpired in the purchase of the Accent.

Congrats on the new car!
My long commute (40k miles/year) kept me from getting a accent because the 100k warranty would be over in under three years...
I'm expecting mine to be done in about the same time.

Ya but that's the longest warranty out there. Assuming you are buying new, other manufacturers warranties would be over in 12-18 months (maybe sooner)............for you. That's a lot of driving son!!
They still make cars with manual windows?
There's hope for the world yet! And may a higher deity bless you for buying one!
I personally would've gone with a 2...but I've never driven either, so that's based on looks and brand alone.
Hey congrats...I just test drove a new accent on Tuesday. The dealer didnt have a "stripper" so the one I drove was an automatic with all the bells and whistles. I was very impressed. These cars have come a long way. I am considering one for my new commute (42 miles one way)...around here the base model is going for about $9700...will adding a B and M shifter (oem accessory) do anything to the warranty?

Hwk---> Did you get ac?
Before I got my Yaris, I was strongly considering both a used Accent SE and a brand new stripper model but the SE I was looking at had a sunroof and the lack of air in a stripper drove me away in regards to selling down the road.
Looking at one of the parts sites during my research, a rear sway bar will run you about $200 and same for a set of aftermarket springs. Someone on here whose name is escaping me has a regular Accent with a set of the SE springs and Mini wheels on it.
A dealership in central Jersey was advertising Accents for $6995 but they were automatic and fully loaded.
P.S. My Yaris has manual windows.
In reply to 92dxman:
Yes, my car actually came with a/c, the only option on it! I'm hoping to add cruise control, a short shifter and a stereo in the next two weeks. Possibly even a clutch stop, there's way too much travel on it. Does anybody know if these clutches are adjustable? I haven't been able to do much research lately due to lack of internet at home.
On the subject of radios, who has radio install kits that are semi decent, online or at a brick and mortar store? I tried Best Buy near me but they don't carry them in stock. My gf gave me her stereo that was slated for her DD Saab but since we traded that in for my Accent I get it and I'd really like to have it installed soon.
Also, what are cheap OEM wheel options for this thing? I'd like to go light and cheap.
Try Crutchfield for the stereo kit. I was very happy with their service on my last purchase. They took back the wrong part I ordered without questions.

Not Accent related, but my stepdad just bought a 4 banger Sonata appliance. It's quite nice for an appliance, I would put the fit and finish almost on a par with the Honda Accord. Actually, the body gaps and paint quality is even with the Accord, the interior has a few more sharp edges and a somewhat cheaper look but still not bad. It would be on my short list if I was appliance huntin'.

Crutchfield rocks. Their prices are no longer rock bottom, but they have great customer service.

And you didn't comment on my long extensive Sonata review the other day?
Didn't see it. I'll try to do better next time.

Here is an option for a stereo install kit from hyundai on this page...
http://www.hyundai-forums.com/index.php?showtopic=27912&st=1580
Apparently it comes with a harness as well as the dash kit.
But.....you'll have to join the forum to view the attachments. lots of photos of the kit's contents.
Very cool. For a point A to point B transporter, they're pretty hard to beat. Run it into the ground and you'll get every penny out of it.
So what was your out the door price? Seen lots of Hyundai ads, but never know what the "real" price winds up being.

Which dealership had that ad? Just wondering...
Oh, the other 'appliance':
They're so cute and small they like to share parking spots.
Background on the Nissan Sentra: gf purchased a craptastic Saab that somehow managed to get her through winter last year but issues had been cropping up left and right. She's pregnant and got laid off and is going to school full-time. She really didn't like driving my Jaguar as it is a little rough on her pregnant body and she can't drive the Saab as it leaks gasoline fumes into the human compartment - was making her a little sick. So I decided to take care of her a little bit and leased her this little bad boy. Zero money down and $197/month. Not too bad. It's a fun car, still light and decent power out of the 2L. Driving a CVT is interesting... Seating position/ride height is a little high for my taste but it'll make it easy getting the baby seat in and out of the back.
