Not sure it's been posted before, but if you've not heard of Garage 54 on YouTube, check it out for some textbook Russian hackery related to cars.  In this episode they saw a four cylinder engine  in half to see if they can make a running two cylinder.  They recently carbonated various fluids to make fizzy gasoline and antifreeze.. just because.

Lots of interesting videos.

I love Garage 54 because they answer those ridiculous questions I always think about in the middle of the night–like if you can saw a four-cylinder engine in half to make a (working) two-cylinder engine.

Have they answered one of the truly great questions- Can you use two cylinders for power and two cylinders as an air compressor filling an old propane tank and mount it all up in a junkyard service truck?

Have you seen the two cylinder build on "Ivan's Shed", it's not quite along the same lines as Garage 54, but there is some interesting fabrication going on:  2 Cylinder BMC A-Series

This used to be an ACVW industrial engine mod.

Let's see 'em join two Subaru sixes together to make a flat twelve.  I'd find that impressive.

How about a straight 16?

The first video in the thread was wild to watch, its almost like a low budget mechanic shop meets science class with minimal curriculum but access to cheap cars to try ideas with.

Love it!

He hasn't posted anything in 6 months. I hope he is ok.

I liked their see-through oil pan and also the experiment to find out exactly how much damage ball bearings will do to the internals of a Lada engine.  Those Russian winters are long, so they need to do something to keep themselves entertained...

There was also the time they tried out Kaleco's idea of using piston return springs in real life.

And the engine swapped washing machine.

Saw a PRV V-6 in a Volvo 260 that was a 3 cylinder.  Timing chain for one bank broke in exactly the right place to not damage anything.  Customer stated "no power" he was right.  Took a while to diag on cam not moving.
