A beige on beige, 6cyl/3spd '65 has been haunting my local Craigslist at Challenge money for over a year... Not sure how much longer I can hold out.

I always liked the Maverick.

When I was a kid, you probably couldn't have given me an A-35. Now, I'm building a copy of the Rae Davis Goodwood A-35 racer (below) to be raced here in the northeast US.

I also think the ~Deux Chevaux~ is an unlikey car to want. But I want one.

I always liked the technobox look, it held a tremendous about of stuff, and just worked. It never worked well, but it just worked. I could drive it anywhere, and did quite regularly. Appallingly likeable car.

The first TV station I worked at had two of those as news crew cars.

In reply to the original post, the convertible version of that car had the best back seat from a domestic in years. Check this out: Individual rear buckets!

Oh, and probably the car I like that makes the least sense:

Every time I see an old Dippy, I just have to smile. Bet it would be a fun sleeper, or maybe find one with the police package.

It just feels like it should be so so so wrong, but I really want a full-size conversion van, for some reason.

Yes, it is a fun sleeper with the police package!

I added the interior from a Fifth Avenue and had the ultimate highway cruiser. It was recently retired at the time. It was great when traffic parted and I cruised through on my tufted couch upholstery.

Yeah, too bad it also had the most bizarre silhouette in convertible history because Olds couldn't be bothered to put the door handles in the...door.

And if you like rear buckets, check a 4th-gen F-body.

In reply to aeronca65t: I've watched that race several times this year. Talk about on the edge. I would never have looked twice at that car before seeing that race. I looked it up online and found that they come with an A series engine in them. It's surprising how fast that car was. Be sure to show us pictures of your project.

I think the problem here is most of us can find a redeeming quality in just about anything. Whether it is in the vehicle itself or the knowledge that something much more fun can be swapped in.

First car - It had an SR20, but everyone though it was a GEO.

Like driving your living room around

Forgot about those. I grew up around RV's, dad always had one. At 16, was driving a 25 foot class A motorhome w/trailer & motorcycles cross country. I thought the only bad thing about the Toyota RV's were they were severely underpowered. The camper part is a very functional camper. When the Dakota came out with the 318 V8, I thought grafting the camper part off one of these onto a V8 Dakota chassis should fix the underpowered bit. Better yet a 360.

Obviously never driven one of these for any length of time. Spent some time driving these. The manual transmission one had a weird shift pattern (3rd & 4th were reversed), huge steering wheel with lots of play and more than completely around to make a turn. Power steering? In your dreams. Accelerate like a turtle, doesn't stop much better. Ride like a log truck. Top speed is less than the speed limit. But about unstoppable.

Wait........ I get it now.

That goes to the shoulda folder for me. Almost traded a 1981 K5 blazer for one of those 1977 Blazer Chalet. Only thing that stopped me was the appliances in the camper (stove, fridge and heater) needed replacing and I couldn't swing that at the time. Do regret not getting it though.
