Yes, I know I need NB springs and rear top hats for that conversion...
Basically, the rear suspension on my NA is pretty shot and on the road back from work the rear feels like it has pretty much lost all damping and with the wonderful potholes I'm feeling like I'm riding a pogo stick down the road.
The original plan was to get one of the FM suspension kits but I think I need something before I can afford the kit I want. I have found a set of used NB yellow Konis on the bay of e. I've had Yellow Konis on my FD an I really liked those, BTW.
So, the ebay suspension "package" would probably consist of:
- Aforementioned yellow Konis
- A set of NB springs off a Mazdaspeed
- Rear NB tophat conversion kit
- Possibly the Mazda Competition upper shock mounts for the front
Any comments? Pointless? Drive the pogo stick a little longer and buy a proper suspension package?
Car use is mostly DD (which is why I don't really want to lower it too much, if at all) with hopefully a few HPDEs thrown in.
The Mazda competition upper mounts are an NA geometry. Stick with the NB parts all around.

Does that mean I need NB upper mounts in the front, too?
EDIT: Doh, just re-read the link and it mentions that it's for all four corners.
Any comments on just swapping a whole set of MSM springs/shocks etc into an NA? Just found a set of those for sale with about 40k on them.
Not a bad way to go for a budget setup. If it rides too high (MSMs are fairly hefty), pull the rubber isolators off the top and bottom of the springs.
The brown service truck dropped off these bad boys today:
They're pretty clean with some overspray from some underbody coating. Doesn't look like there are any leaks, either.
As I've never converted an NA to NB suspension, what parts do I need to mount these on an NA? Top of the shocks looks like this:
To me, they look rather complete but as I said, I haven't got the foggiest if I need anything else to bolt them onto my NA.

Nothing else needed.
Remove NA parts, Install NB parts
Exactly. Bolt on and enjoy.
Right. Now all I need is to collect all the brake parts I need for a quick brake job at the same time and I can lock myself in the garage for a weekend .
That is the setup I have on my Miata (with FCM bumpstops and mounting bushings) and it is great.
