Got some new shoes on the blue pig Saturday and immediately put 300 kilos on them to buy a cheap boat trailer.

Cooper Discoverer AT3 XLT in 275/70r18. Biggest thing that will fit a stock 4x4, basically 33s. Going from a P rated highway tire to an E rated AT, gained almost 20lbs per tire. 40psi all around.

So far, very happy. Noise is exactly the same as the highway tires, meaning none. Ride is almost the same too. You can feel the extra weight because some bumps feel just a little harsher, but it's a small enough difference my wife can't feel it at all. I can feel that the factory shocks are having a harder time damping the extra weight too, but 55k on stock shocks already had me thinking about replacements before too long. The weight also cost me some acceleration by the old ass-o-meter. Just not as snappy, have to get the pedal down a little more. I'll drop in a tune down the road and cure that problem.

Oh, and here's the galvanized trailer I got for $250...

Thanks! They look really tough to be as quiet as they are. Makes it look like a real 4WD truck.

I was looking at those in a 275/55/20 for the 4Runner but couldn’t decide if they would have enough road mannners.
