Hey Guys,

I need to get my motor swapped in by a shop. The car is in Boston, MA and is currently not in any shape to be driven so I have to tow it. The friend's shop is currently going tho a rough time so I'm forced to look for an alternate. Any recommendations on a good shop in the area?

I'm putting a 13BT into a 1990 Rx7 GXL, the swap itself is pretty straightforward but I can't do it myself because I'm working down in NYC and I have no place to do it here.

I tried them and they didn't think it would be something they would be interested in. In their defense, I was super forward with them saying that it was gonna be a basic swap and that I wanted to keep the project budget focused.

Keep the suggestions coming guys. I'm a little lost...

Interesting.

I don't know of any other reputable shops (then again, I'm out of touch w/ "the scene" these days). Seems like far too many of them were fly-by-night and don't exist anymore.

I did some googling and Geyer's Garage in Braintree seems to have a good reputation and is familiar with imports. Give them a call and see what's up.

East Coast Swappers moved to CT somewhere. Seems like it would be right up their alley.

How striahgt forward is the swap? Do you have electrical diagrams for both motor and car? How budget minded are you? Where are you going to be reg it?

Pretty Damn Straight Forward: It's a S5 13BT going into a S5 Chassis. Just have to lengthen a 6-7 wires. It pretty much drops right in:

When I say budget focused, what I'm trying to say is that I don't want to dump thousands of dollars into something that is going to be just to beat on and learn from for AutoX. Meaning I don't need that fuel pump that can handle 1000 HP whens a Walbro 225LHP will do...

It's gonna be reg in either NY or NJ. I still haven't decided where I'm going to live by the time it's finished

I was pointed towards Synaptic3 Engineering in Candia, NH (http://www.synaptic3.com/) by someone on a Mazda3 board for a local shop with rotary experience. You may want to call ahead.

I could probably do it. I have pulled, and re-installed many a 13B/12A. I have never changed from an naturally aspirated motor to a turbo, but how hard could it be of the engine is from the same family? What sort of time period are you looking to get this done in? I am on the south shore, and I have a garage, but it is full at the moment with my stored fleet of old school rotors.

Also Fastrack auto service in Peabody can do it. Talk to Jamie he is one of the owners, and a true rotorhead.

Jamie a fast tack is the way to go. I can not say enough good things about him!!!

Chris,

I have done more swaps than I care to think about in s4&s5 cars. I had it down to about 5 hours by my self in my S4 car. If you do it and need help let me know.
