Need some info on the CTS

So my wife wants a "new" car, she is tired of driving around in the Vibe, she is very VERY picky about cars. She has taking a strong liking to the 1st gen CTS, I like the way they look, but don't know much about them. Which motor is best to get? are there any things to look out for? are they fairly easy to work on? Anybody have one? Thanks guys.

I always like the 3.6, plenty of pep for the CTS with the 5 speed I thought it was a good car
