What does the brain trust say? I am interested in thoughts as to what is causing the issue and what do you think it is worth.

Isn't this what happens when the coils start going?

I'd lowball at $4k, and be ecstatic if i got it for $5-$6k.

I remember reading on this board about the cause of that hot start problem not long ago, now I can't remember

Well my thought is to offer him my MR2 spider as trade, straight up. It has 142K miles, has quite a few small dings (hail style but not from hail, not sure where actually), and is a fairly solid car. My wife may not like the trade much but that is not really my worries.

Also, I can't tell. Can anyone see if there is a sunroof on this thing. Since there is leather I am leaning towards yes. Not excited by either.

I may have an RX-8 that I'd be willing to get rid of for the right price... 2004, 110k miles, manual, silver.

perfect, if you're 6' or higher!

also sounds like its got a hot start issue which can be E36 M3ty ignition modules, or plugs/wires or its a bad starter and its slow to crank.

Compression issues are more common on cold start issues but when it heats up and all the seals expand you're good to go.

It might be $20/plug, but replacing plugs MIGHT fix it. Sounds like a case of being easy and not flogging it to 11/10ths is causing problems.

All prices from rock auto

Plugs L:$16.56ea T:$16.70ea

Standard brand Ign coils (just to get it running again) $38.79ea

NGK plug wires $20.79

And you will have a 9k rocket that you have to beat so this does not happen, Also look in to getting the upgraded S2 starter for much better crank!

What's the ballpark for the "right price"?

I'd sell my liver for the right price.
