don't know why I feel the need to share but I do....

got some flowmaster 40's off craigslist for $50. Six months old, look good but p/o painted them black. whatever.

had a shop delete my rear cats and install the flowmasters in place of the stock mufflers, all for $75. I'm hoping the cat.'s might bring close to that at the recyclers.

Car runs more or less the same, which I expected.

No change in noise at idle. BUT, Sounds tuff from 1000rpm to about 2500rpm, above that the sound goes away and it sounds quiet again. I kinda like it.

How the hell does yours sound quiet? Mine's loud as hell with my Flow 40's and I have cats still!

mine sounds pretty mean, but it has an exhaust leak!

eventually going true dual side exit pipes.

are there rear o2's that would be confused while deleting the rear cats? i dont need to pass sniffer test but i need to pass the obd2 plug in test. then again i need to pass witin the month to get my plates then not again till 2011.

the stock mufflers sound good but i've got a small leak somewhere. my starter or battery cable burned last night(cable is fried and was on fire at the starter but not sure if the starter caused it or the cable chafed and shorted somewhere)

It goes;

manifold

-02

-cat

-02

-cat

-rest-of-the-exhaust

So deleting the rear cat doesn't register on the obd.
