Currently, Gridlife’s TrackBattle Time Attack series features six classes of competition, each one progressively faster and allowing more modifications: Sundae Cup, Street, StreetGT, StreetMod, TrackMod and Unlimited.
On March 11, however, the sanctioning body announced the addition of the Club Track Rat class, a 200tw class—using the Falken Azenis RT-660—meant to fill the gap between the Sundae Cup and Street …

With the K-Power Industries BRZ getting its shakedown last weekend at Barber and Falken signing on with Gridlife for more involvement.. I am REALLY excited for the year ahead..
My Fiesta slots into this class perfectly(minus the RT660's). Might have to join a Gridlife event here soon.

Very interesting, as our Miata didn't fit into their rules previously.
This is a little unclear:
● Vehicles must retain OEM interior components e.g., dash, carpets, headliner, and all must be in factory positions. (interior may be trimmed or modified to accommodate safety components.). Accommodations for aftermarket racing seats for driver and passengers are allowed. All seats must be track worthy, and capable of safely securing an occupant.
●Vehicles with “gutted” interiors but not rollbars or rollcages are allowed with prior approval, and on a case by case basis. Email adam@grid.life and abrin@grid.life prior to events. In allowed cases, these vehicles must have 100 lbs of ballast added, in cases where they aren’t required to meet a minimum weight due to engine swaps. Ballast must be properly secured with multiple grade 8 or higher ½’ bolts and adequate backing plates. Factory dash must be present and in original location.
Does that mean if you have a rollcage, you don't need to add ballast?
Guess I'll send them an email... not sure if my Supermiata style aero is legal, either...
I like this rule:
Same manufacturer and mixed manufacturer engine swaps are permitted e.g., B18 or K swapped Civic, K swapped Miata, etc, as long as other rules are followed (Stock engine internals, etc)
Sounds like another place to enjoy a K24z3 swapped NA. hmmmmm.
OK! Fine, I'll take my Fiesta to the track already.

Got a quick response.
No ballast required with stripped interior and rollcage.
Might have to look at the possibility of hitting the PPIR event in July...
Why is everything so tiny?

Wait, what? Dont the rules state interior? Or is that just plastics?
Now it sounds like the class is going to get dominated by caged, K swap NA Miatas.

I think the whole point of this class is to make a place for track cars: no interior and caged. They already have classes that require interiors, and cars with 'gutted interiors' require prior approval. My take is that they're looking for safety equipment if you don't have an interior, and don't want people just gutting the car for weight reduction.
so, the thumbnail white civic is getting converted from "street" class spec, to the new "track rat" rules:
civic change over, part number 2:

Does it say it has to keep the same number of cylinders?
In reply to Keith Tanner :
technically, no... but there is a 2.5L capacity limit (or 1.6L turbo... but it's not clear you can put an eco boost 1.3/1.6 into a Miata, from my reading of the rules). Y'all got a KL-Miata kicking around that needs some exercise?
I do not. But that explains why the K swapped cars keep getting name-checked and not those that are more endowed with displacement.
