I would not call it a war. I would call it "reasons".
Current engines are capable of moving the vehicles reasonably well. But there are reasons why they will no longer be good enough. Many of which the video about the Ford engine covers. Same thing applies to GM and FCA. I would not be shocked to hear they are doing the same thing.
