I had to search around and make sure that this is not an April st  joke. K&N has come up with a carburetor assist device that sells for more than a full TBI system from Holley or Fitech. For those that cant figure out how a choke works.

Runs on some kind of new-fangled low pressure injector?

This is probably one of the worst bits of engine tuning disaster I've ever heard of surprise

Worth every penny just for another place to have a K&N logo under the hood. +17 horses powers guaranteed. Should be marketed "Finally give your 3rd gen Camaro enough power to beat those pesky Civics."

Maybe it's not such a bad deal if you just remove the carb afterwards laugh

(Well you would need a throttle plate. Maybe call it Throttle Body Injection? XD )

The sad thing is that an account manager had to approve this with the justification of marketability.  Who is ever going to buy one????

Wow, K&N has gone off the rails. I can see some clever tuners using it with a secondary fuel system on boosted applications though.

I think their marketing group is looking at the Barrett Jackson and Mecum type crowd.

These are the guys that are willing to spend the dollars on their high school dream car, but want it to start and and run like their appliance.

Compared to the purchase price of the car, the cost of this is minimal, and can be easily reversed without any major changes or rebuilding.

This looks like it could be used to close the gap on cold start performance. It could be a big help for those that never learned to pump the throttle before hitting the key so the choke would close and high idle cam would move into place.

 On a different thought...

I wonder if you could tune a carb to run slightly lean and use this to make up the fuel for the correct afr while reducing the smell of raw fuel from the exhaust?

Gm ditched cold start Injectors in 89ish.  29 years later k&n brings it back.  The world is a cycle

Where is that warm you car up or not thread.  WOW

So this is for that minute or two it take for a carbed engine to warm up and come off of the choke?

And if a carb is working perfectly it will do almost nothing.  Genious.

Seems to me most of the cars this appears to be targeted toward probably don't have the extra hood clearance required due to taller aftermarket intake and carb. How many will install and then slam the hood? Hope the instructions come with a warning.

This will be perfect for your Holley 850 double pumper on that otherwise stock 302. Because you clearly need more fuel.

its simple stupid people math. more fuel = more power

My first thought was, "I should put this under my Holley Terminator.  It'll either un berkeley it, or I'll just blow my brains out."

Then I thought about the Simpsons episode where Homer had a Cadillac as a loaner from the body shop.  He and Bart were having a dual-zone climate control battle, and it started to rain in the car. Homer turned on the rear window defrost, and started a tornado.

You noticed this chart then?

Apparently Carbs are easy to tune; EFI is hard, but when you put them together it's easy again. Weird.

If it sells and makes the company money, it's brilliant.

If not, it will go in the scrap heap with the rest of the parts no one bought.

I'm betting they will sell more of them than you think.

It feels like they're just preying on the old guys that think "them newfangled computer things are too complicated and I can't fix it with a screwdriver."  And the ones that are either using the wrong carb or just can't properly tune a carb...

I wonder if it would make a Predator carb work for a daily driver? Because then it would be worth it I'm sure!

Maybe add in a used Honda piggy back fuel controller that will allow it to do the accelerator pump enrichment function for motorcycle carbs?

Otherwise I got nothing.

Its like the new-fangled electronic Warm-Up Regulator solution that is controlled by a customized version of MicroSquirt for CIS equipped cars.

It apparently sells well enough, especially to folks with older classics that have CIS, but for most of us who know better we just wonder why go through all that hassle to have that nest of exploded carburetor and vacuums leaks infesting their engine bay?

To each their own, but as the old adage goes, a fool and their money is soon parted.

What's a CIS?

Also, I feel as though I should be offended, but I'm not sure if I should be offended if my car is or is not equipped with it.

Worse yet, what if it was originally equipped with it, and I removed it?
