So, we finally got a company truck at work from another one of our divisions, a 2007 Nissan Titan base model, 4x4 crew cab with the 5.6L and 5 speed auto.

I really like it. Considering they never changed from 2004-2013, I'd consider buying a used one next year (was originally going to buy my fathers 2005 GMC 1/2 ton 4x4 crew cab next year, but now I have my doubts).

Is there any reason to NOT like the Titan? I've heard MPG is bad, but I wouldn't be daily driving it, just towing with it about 20,000kms per year.

I very rarely see them on the road. Dunno what that means. Toyota has made great inroads with the Tundra but Nissan has struggled for years and years.

I've heard that the rear end is undersized for the truck and power it makes, and the factory fix was a finned diff cover to try to keep it cool. A friend has an Armada with the same motor, and he thinks it is great except for the really awful fuel economy.

I've nothing concrete to add except they're pretty popular around here (Lethbridge), and a good friend in Regina has one with about 200,000 kms on it. Had it since new. Several cold Sask winters. No significant issues that I know of. It's mainly just a play thing, no heavy towing or other hard use, just hauling kids, dog, and mountain bikes around. But I think it's been good overall.

Its a heavy truck and front rotors were warping on a regular basis the first couple model years. I don't know if there was a mod or redesign later to recitfy that but I talked to multiple people who went through a couple sets of rotors in less than a year. I can't remeber what the fix was though.

They are damn good trucks, bad fuel economy as mentioned, the vk has the same timing chain whine problems as the vq motors.
According to someone I worked with who owned one new, briefly, (he owns everything briefly) it doesn't tow nearly as good as his avalanche or silverado

Probably the best driving truck I've been in. If were to buy a truck, it would be at the top of my list. We have F150's at work, and it far exceeds them in driver enjoyment.

I have two friends with them, one put almost 200k miles on his old one, and he recently bought a new one to replace it. The other friend sold his after a few years and regrets it everyday. He even towed his Supra with it to races without any problem.

I think the only real issues either has had was one needed exhaust manifold gaskets. That seems to be a common issue.

In reply to HiTempguy : Forget the the mechanics, butt ugly. Toyo looks the beast, so-o-o much better stuff.

17 mpg on a good day with the 2wd model. About 10-12 mpg towing. They dont have any major issues other than the diff. Just gotta change the fluid. Front rotors are fixed with slotted rotors. They are good trucks. I still hate them. Get a 91 suburban. Lol

Don't do it. There is a major brake defect in the booster that causes brake failure - it is a defective delta sensor. There is no way to know until it fails. Nissan has refused to issue a recall (it affects all 2004-06 models of Titan and Armada) though they have known about it since at least '06. In 2012, I purchased an '05 Armada with only 35000mi on it. I did so with the expectation that it would make for a quality daily driver with ample towing capacity for the e36 m3 track car. At 60,000 miles, imagine how it felt when the brakes went to the floor in the mtns of NC with my family in the car, another time with the loaded trailer behind me leaving the track as I got on 95. Many of the dealers are clueless as to the problem and I had to discover and diagnose the problem myself thanks to the inter webs. Nissan refused to assist with the repair, despite the danger, and the fix is over $1200. I am thankful I never killed anyone nor myself but wanted to lynch the Nissan rep. It's fixed now, anyone want a deal on an Armada? I once owned an infiniti and loved it but I'll never purchase another nissan product.

My sister in law is trying to unload a very nice fully loaded 2007 Armada and no one will even look at it. She has dropped the price $7000.00 and it is now seriously cheap. I can't figure out why no one likes them. If it was a Ford it would be long gone.
