"Only" a 6 is a bit misleading. It is a 6 cylinder that was designed from the ground up to be a diesel motor. Not a gas V8 that was converted.
A straight 6 has some advantages in developing torque and durability, such as stiffening up the block, using one head instead of two, etc.
Both Ford and Chevy have had some real problems developing their diesel engines as a result of hiving to the V8 designs. Some of their earlier attempts were notoriously unreliable. Don't know if they have all that sorted, yet.
The perfect heavy duty truck would be a combination of the Cummins with the Allison transmission that Chevy has. I think I heard a rumor that Dodge was losing Cummins, but I could be mistaken.
Big Star in a Small Car still needs work, but this week's episode was pretty great. Pulling things down with a pickup truck FTW.
I think that thing i miss too is the sense of an opening, TGUK has an opening with Clarkson every time, TGUS just goes right into their premier event, and they miss out alot on the live ad lib banter than makes TGUK so good, then again i think this season is better than last season....

Dangit! I hit the ! instead of the +1 on this post. I HATE IT when that happens.
yup... keeps getting better but the flow is just off... TGUK loves to leave you hanging till later in the show to see the results of a race, splits up the big challenge though the show in several segments...
start in a small car bit feels off still... largely to how they introduce it I think... reminds me of how they did it on jay leno's short lived show... everyone by the car hooting and hollerin... at least the guest this week was comfortable on the camera... the pawn star one gave me the creeps at how uncomfy rick was on the camera...
Did any one else cringe when that swamp boat cut across the levee in front of Tanner near the end? Maybe it was staged but that looked awfully close.
I found this episode the most entertaining by far. Rutledge is just a big kid. Tanner is filling the role of hot shoe quite well and I guess due to my LI upbringing I actually find Adam funny more often than not. Hell we could have hung out in high school. Okay, maybe not, I don't feign to have been a criminal type.
you definately see the nose of the rally fighter dive hard while braking to avoid the swamp boat.
but considering every single one of these races always has a close call where they cross paths (on TGUK too), i would assume its staged.
who cares. everyone always watches races for some close action and near misses.
This last one with the trucks was probably their best episode yet. Maybe they are finally gelling and getting some more unique ideas.
