After looking for a few months and changing my mind multiple times as to what I wanted to buy I finally pulled the trigger and bought myself a new car. Well it is not new exactly, it is 13 years old. But most importantly it is new to me and I am pretty stoked.

It is a 1999 with no paint work. It has 77K miles and has been very well maintained. I looked at several and actually got out bid on a 1997 the same day that I discovered this one. I ended up paying more then I originally planned but when I factored in that this car didn't need anything, (New tires, bushings, rear shock mounts, cooling system) I figured it was worth the extra money. And besides it has really low miles so it should keep its value pretty well. (It is hard to find a low mileage E36 M3)

I have a few projects to attend to (window regulator auto up feature doesn't work and the drivers seat back doesn't recline) It will be nice to have a car / project that doesn't need hundreds of hours of work.

I will get some better pictures after I clean it properly.

Looks awesome. I'd say it's worth paying a bit extra for that car with such low miles. Congrats!

that is fantastic.
I hear you on the low mileage e36 score, all the ones I was looking at were 160k+.
Still feel like I should have bought the 98 electric violet coupe instead of the new kia, but oh well. Havign no vehicle issues is a good payoff.

That's some clean E36 M3 there! Nice pickup. Care to share ballpark pricing? I was lookIng for an E36 like yours but everything I could find was 150k+ miles and beat to hell for $10k+ so I gave up and went E46 M3.

I would love a sedan with 6 speed. They seem to be hard to find

Speaking of cleaning it up properly....................check this thread out, it seems to be very appropriate right about now.

They, um..didn't sell them.
They had a 5 speed manual available, but it seems that most sedans got the auto.

Fantastic car! ZOO - Glad to hear that you're still enjoying yours!

Great looking car. I don't know why, but I have a soft spot for the last year e36's. Nothing real different about them, but I just do. A 6th gear on the e36's would do wonders for highway trips. Im sitting at 3k in my 325is at highway speeds.

I miss mine. If you're in the market for an exhaust, I had the Active Autowerke Gen III and it was awesome!

The car already has a AA Exhaust on it.

If I were to sell I would ask 14k or so and sit on it till the right buyer came along. I paid less then that for it.

It is the same car from RRAX. I actually knew the seller from autocrossing / IT racing. He was selling it to get a Type-R Integra.

I spent about a half hour playing with the car in my driveway this after noon. I am like a kid with a new toy.... The more I look at it the happier I am with the purchase. It really is the nicest e36 M3 I have seen in years.

Very nice score. I paid within 10% of what you'd sell for my E46 M3, which is why I went that way.

I figure the car should hold its value pretty well. It will probably get less then 2500 miles a year while I have it and plan on fixing its few minor blemishes so I expect to get top dollar for it when I do sell it. They are becoming increasingly hard to find.

I have driven both (This is my 3rd E36 M3, and my 4th E36) the E36 is smaller and feels more nimble. I also like that it has less electronic gadgetry to break. The e46 engine is great and pulls like crazy but you have to adjust the valves etc. and they had the oiling issues when they were new. I am also pretty sure nice low milegae e36 M3's will eventually go up in value if not stay steady where they are.
