i just got the 3.4 dropped into my s10 tonight. filled it with oil. started a small leak at the drainplug. tightened drainplug, looked at it. its got a couple of pinholes from where the pan was crushed somehow.
what i need to do is repair the pinholes.
i really dont want to pull the engone back out to get the oil pan swapped out. that would make me even more discouraged than i already am.
anyone have any experience repairing these? its steel, but i cant weld.
my thought was to clean it really good, get all the paint off, scuff it with 80 grit to give some texture, and JB weld the hell out of it. dont know if this will work, though.
let me know what to do to repair it.

I just faced the same thing on my Jeep. Oil was leaking through a Swiss cheesed area on the side of the pan. I cleaned it with brake fluid and JB Welded it. It worked great and held until I had a chance to change the pan.
I had pin hole in my 96 truck drained oil. cleaned out side of the pan with brake cleaner and wire brush then clean with acetone next put air hose in drain plug hole and add small flow of air for few minutes re-wipe out side with acetone repeat until you see no bleeding from the holes then clean one last time. and JB weld it. let cure fully over night before adding oil then spray paint or under coat.
I also had a big hole once in a 345 international school bus...droped it with motor in place and brazed it up.

I did the same as 44, on my Dodge truck, and it lasted until I sold it, which was several years.
What everyone else said, and I will add that if you can raise the front/rear/side of the truck (whichever is needed) to raise the pinhole area so that oil will flow away from it will help with the cleaning process. Roughing it up with some 100 grit paper is a good idea as well.
