I have this on a cut-squarebody trailer to pull behind my squarebody truck.
I'm feeling like there is something missing. There isn't really anything to keep the latch from popping up and uncoupling from the truck. What part do I need to find or fab?
~I~ put the shiny bolt in there, which when tightened makes a slidey-thingie stop sliding which keeps the hitch "on the ball" (no pun intended), but I still think there's something missing.
Thoughts?

I think this is the type of latch

If not, there's lots of other choices on etrailer's site.

Oh! Boom! That's it!
I compared the replacement parts with what I have, and I see what's wrong. I can fix it. Good! Thanks!!
As long as the flap on top still has a good spring it will not fall open.
A piece of duct tape over the flap will insure it does not pop up.
If that bolt hole is not an adjustment You may be using the wrong size ball with it
I don't currently have one of those hitches, but I seem to recall it should have a short bolt and washer tight in that hole.
