Yep. Engines I work on push 2000 bar, which is roughly 29000 psi.
The Diesels are injecting into a burning combustion chamber, so they need way lots more pressure.
I remember in '86 or so, I was reading in a science magazine about evolutionary algorithms and computer modeling, and the example they used was Diesel combustion. Try a slight difference one way or the other, whichever way is better gets selected and it goes further, times all of the thousands/millions of iterations you can do when you throw a problem at a computer and let it hack away for a while. What they came up with, was multiple injections per combustion event, with specific timing and duration (small pulse, then longer ones) was greatly more efficient. The problem then, was how do you actually do that in the real world?
And now here we are.

I x'd out the VIN number for no good reason. Looks like it's scheduled to start build on July 1st. Happy day!
And now it's in production:

This is getting exciting!

Enjoy enjoy. Man when I got my 2004 Evolution RS I thought it was a monster. Just so much performance on the street. Now 10+ years on and the RS just sounds like too much.
I still often get out of the car with a good feeling about my drive. I hope you feel the same.
Tell us about the first rallycross too! You ARE going to rallycross it. (note no question mark)

I finally got an update on mine, I should see it very soon!

You're right, this is damned exciting!
My friend, Lorin Mueller already picked his up on Saturday, so I'm living vicariously through he and his wife via Facebook.

I was on a forum where .5% of the world's production of Series 1 Esprits were members. Well, member, it was one person...
Probably too late for the '16s now, but if you have a willing dealer (like mine was), you can probably pre-order a '17 now. 2016 production ends in July, and I think they've already taken their last order. Current production qty is 2400-ish.

So its not even built in the states? I have more respect for this now. and I am wanting to test drive one...
crap.
In reply to Jaynen:
There's a possibility that someone who's ordered it might walk away, also a dealer might order one or two for themselves (if they are smart).
I'd check with the FocusRS.org forum to see if anyone posts a dealer with one available.
That said, I wouldn't hold your breath.
So, have you guys driven an RS somewhere before? I would be interested in paring down the fleet to have 1 fun/useful car, but I would have to know how it compares with the current fun car...
Well, no, I haven't actually driven an RS, but I've driven a FoST as well as my current FiST. The reviews have all been so glowing that I'm not worried about not liking it.
Did it arrive?
I just sold my Speed6 this week after three glorious turbo AWD years and this would be a worthy replacment.
In reply to fidelity101:
It is being built in Saarlouis, Germany - that should bump up the respect a little more?
There are 7 of these on ebay and one dealer is 20 miles from me - it looks like they are all trying to get the $50,000 price out of these cars.
There is a note on the top right side of the factory window sticker that states you will spend $2,250 more in fuel over five years........
...............they should add another sentance; and you will have the biggest fricking smile on your face every day you drive this car.

It seems as if many people have gotten theirs quite a bit earlier than that.
In reply to Stefan (Not Bruce):
Wow- our news is a few days late- the guy who is reportedly the first is in a video that was posted in the tubes on the 12th.
He showed the car at a Cars & Coffee event.
So much for the latest of the latest news...
