Looks like Andy Hollis and his Honda CRX are off to a great start--6th overall officially, but a Facebook posts suggest that unofficially they are 5th overall.

So, what would you run?

The MX6. In fact, that's a goal that should be accomplished in the next year or two.

After that, the blue Miata will hopefully make an appearance or two.

IF i were trying to win the whole damn thing... i'd run a Noble M400 of some sort.

Foxbody 5L coupe. I know them quite well and they are decently quickish with some cheap mods.

I've thought about it a lot the last couple years... ok, the last 10 years. My dream OLOA car is a box caprice 4-dr. Suspension loaded with lots and lots of roundy round parts with some massive brakes. Running some 275-17 fronts and some 315 rears. Caged, recaros, some form of an LSx tied to either a T-56 or some other form of 6-spd overdrive. keep the A/C and some form of radio for transits, dark windows etc.

Reality is... I'll drive whatever the berkeley someone puts in front of me. Period. I'd love to be a transit driver on something like this. I can sleep whil the other person races around track, then hop in the car and get from point A to B, C, D, E, F, ..... etc.

Giulia Ti with a 2.0l powertrain in it. Nice and classic, and really fun. 4 doors to carry stuff and easily get in and out of. Speed solutions are well known for that...

I think we can agree that a miata is NOT the answer for this one. not enough motor, not enough space. Hollis has it close to right. Big motor, light car with lots of room for the week. I think to be close to the top you need to be under 7lbs/hp. I think Andy's in the 9 range, but he's an exceptional driver AND setup man.

I think Miata COULD be the answer, but it would take 1) An absolutely ridiculous Miata that probably wouldn't have much of the original car left save for the bare chassis and 2) a hotshoe that won't shy away from one of the scariest cars ever built.

+1. A trailer is a good replacement for the space.

But I'm not the one spending time and money on this project.

Stage 3+ Allroad. Plenty of room for spares and tires. weight around 3800 lbs but arount 450-500 hp and near infinite traction in a straight line. Could be done for around 40K

Anyone have 39K to donate to the cause?

Realistically? I think a 2011+ S197 Mustang should be able to do really well. 5.0 or 3.7, doesn't matter as either realistically has enough power or can be made to go fast enough.

If I want to win and had the $'s skill and talent then road legalize a Riley track day car, basicaly a simplified Daytona Prototype. Get an upgrade engine package for weapons grade awesome. Rent two motorhomes and have them leap frog each other to each location with a crew going to each location so you can pull in and sleep, shower and eat while one of your two teams of mechanics preps the car.

If I wanted to do it in style and comfort, again cost no option. Bentley Continental Speed in gray with a licence plate reading POUPON . Customs made teardrop trailer to match with (obviously with matching red leather diamond pattern interior) so you could keep all your crap in there, pull in and run.

Reality with more money that I have. Next Gen S550 Mustang, stock stock stock.

Reality that might just happen in retirement, whatever the bork I can pull together that will last the trip!

Well lets see. It needs to be able to fit large tires actually available in street tire sizes, so at least something that can take 18" wheels. Strong power, good suspension, lightish. I'm thinking the droid for doing it under 30k is either E36 bmw with an LS or some other way to hit over 400hp and some work or c5Z or C6 coupe. If I wanted to break everything and spend ALL the money, GTR.

Given the ratio of interstate pounding to actual track time, I'd want something very comfortable. Let's say new Z2/8 or Z06. Or a GTR. Or a 911 turbo. Ooo, that one.

This is the fantasy answer. If it was my own money, I'd go run the Targa Newfoundland again instead. Less interstate, more racing.

McLaren P1. You would DOMINATE at the tracks, the ride isn't too bad (for what it is) and the interior is all carbon-fiber, so spills are easy to wipe up. They tested it for reliability way beyond what the Italians can handle, so you would be able to finish. Pack a toothbrush, a wallet, and plan on burning your clothes at the end of the week.

C4 Corvette with the Z51 sport suspension. They're underpowered on the stock TPI, but are good at both long highway stints, have plenty of luggage room, and handle great. Pretty much just need good shocks and fresh bushings when it comes to suspension. Power can be fixed with an LSx swap.

You know.... a 3.8 Gen Coupe would make a great OL car. tune it with a good exhaust etc, suspension and tire. Enough room inside to make the highway jaunts disappear etc.

Here it is... http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail.jsp?tracktype=usedcc&csDlId=&csDgId=&listingId=604967724&listingRecNum=16&criteria=feedSegId%3D28705%26rpp%3D50%26transTypeId%3D28112%26transTypeId%3D35984%26isDealerGrouping%3Dfalse%26sf2Nm%3Dmiles%26requestorTrackingInfo%3DRTB_SEARCH%26sf1Nm%3Dprice%26sf2Dir%3DASC%26stkTypId%3D28881%26PMmt%3D1-1-0%26rn%3D0%26prcId%3D28579%26prcId%3D28578%26prcId%3D28577%26zc%3D46240%26rd%3D100000%26crSrtFlds%3DstkTypId-feedSegId-mkId-mdId%26mdId%3D30263%26stkTyp%3DU%26mkId%3D20064%26sf1Dir%3DASC&aff=gogsemc&listType=1
