I was not thinking of changing the profile. Just the cut lines so I am not sure that this would be an issue. I am thinking that Keith's comment about it coming back and killing a driver may be an issue.

The location of the hinge wasn't directed at me, although I would not want to do a timing belt on a car with a front-hinged hood and a longitudinal engine. Thankfully, my BMW has the hinges at the back where they belong.

My suggested solution? Order it in black. Then you can't see the cutlines.

When you come right down to it, black is the only correct color choice for any vehicle.

As the recipient of two hood-up incidents, the hinges belong at the front.

As the owner of a 1st-gen RX-7 where the hinges are on the correct end (front), access is a non issue. Remove the two hinge bolts on the non hood prop side, then go around and remove the two on the hood prop side, set hood prop down, lift hood off. One man operation.

Not that it matters, because in a relatively long nose longitudinal chassis, access to the front isn't the problem, it's access to stuff near the firewall that sucks. Bad for the back and knees. Access for that stuff is excellent when the hood hinges at the correct end And really, access to the front of the engine is easier too, since the hood's angle when open allows you to more easily work from the side, which is better for holding tools unless you can rotate your shoulders 180 degrees so your wrists and elbows face the other direction.

BTW - Have done timing belts on front hinged BMWs. Piece of cake even with the hood on.

That is why you died and your clone wore white

+1. The other nice thing about a front-hinge hood is it is easily removed and reinstalled for better access if desired without the PITA alignment issues with a rear-hinge hood. I wish more cars had front hinge hoods...

That's just playing around with stance and tupperware. How much faster is it? I took 3.5 seconds/lap off a 70 second track with ours in the first two days. But people ridiculed how it looked. Slower people.
