It is pretty awesome, though.

Yes it was a silhouette class. My fav that i actually saw was a Sierra Cosworth with a Porsche 962 engine in the nose.

Crikey!!

Like many cars in the late 70's and early 80's the American version was a massivley diluted and crapped up version of a basically good car. See also Cavalier, Chevette, Daweoo LeMans.
BAsically the same car deep deep deep underneath. Each of these cars were great family haulers, brilliant hot hatches and outstanding race and rally cars over in Europe. The Escort XR3 and RS1600 and the Astra GTE were super hot Yuppie status symbols in the 80's, while over here they were turgid piles of unimaginative crap.
I never realized there was a European Cavalier. All this time I'd been holding out for a Japanese one.

Heads up, box flares are now haute coutoure. TRA Kyoto, maker of the Rocket Bunny series of widebody kits, has a new line out called Pandem, which are (hellaciously expensive) box flares with the obligatory exposed fasteners:
I suppose the clear aesthetic superiority of the box flare over other kinds of flare could only fly under the stancebros' radar for so long
Adrian_Thompson wrote: In reply to Lof8: While displaying an appalling lack of 'box' with the flares, that is very cool.
You're looking at it wrong. It's a box with flares instead of box shaped flares.
noddaz wrote: While these are not actually box flares...
That is the opposite of a box flare and the lack of suspension travel capability makes it a fail. Hard fail. All it needs is to be photographed in a graffiti-filled industrial area, with the parking lights on, while the owner makes some sort of imitated gang sign, to complete its journey of failitude.
I mean, cripes, look at the splitter on the thing. The car must have a half inch of suspension travel in either direction. That's a hardparking car, not anything that is meant to go fast.
