Bilsteins on the 2018 Miata Club, 76K miles
When going over bumps she sounds... flat?  Not like she used to.

I know a bounce test doesn't do anything, none of the traditional ways of checking a shock work for a strut.

Anyone know what I can look at?

Mileage. Tenneco rep I spoke with at an Advance Auto shindig said 60k period. Average was 7000 oscillations per MILE.

I've always found the "riding a pogo stick" feeling to be a good indicator.

So it sounds like its time to change them.
Both axles at the same time?  It feels more like its from the rear than the front (more butt-feeling and when I hit a joint with the front or rear tires)

Bilsteins again?  Too much focus on Rosie and other stuff to go with coilovers or a full kit.

Really? The ND has a Mac strut front suspension? Really?

No, double wishbone, if I remember my terminology correctly

That's not correct, and the car in question doesn't have any struts anyway.

So they are shocks and not struts, although struts are also shocks :) Double wishbone front, multilink rear.

Mazda Bilsteins have a pretty good lifespan, I usually think of them lasting roughly 100k. But that's a very vague rule of thumb. You do feel ride quality from the rear axle more than the front in a Miata.

I'd replace them with a full set of Koni Sports myself. Consider changing out the rear bumpstops for some slightly shorter ones. I have a preferred vendor for both of these, but you do you :)

And I'm pretty sure that Koni is having their annual sale right now. I've got a set of the sports on my miata, of course, also have a set on my civic. The konis, a rear sway bar, some good tires and a performance alignment transformed the civic.
