Out Of My League

OK, here's The Red Pig actually managing to get in the same picture frame as a real, live Daytona Prototype.

Total cost of my car: Probably less than $800. Cost of his car: Add at least three zeros to the cost of my car.

I have no idea why he came to our NASA-NE event last weekend, but it was keen to see this thing out there. On several occasions, I'd be humping along at 6400 RPM in fourth gear on the speedway section of Pocono North and he'd BLAST by at about a zillion MPH. I wanted to look down and see if I was actually in reverse.

As always a great NASA weekend and this DP-Porsche was an extra treat!

This is what I love about our kind of racing- very diverse kinds of cars on the track at the same time. OK, you got your doors blown off a few times, but it was COOL!! And if he screwed up, you got to pass him!

I really doubt that that is an 800,000 dollar racecar. in fact, a brand new Doran ( i realize that is not a doran...looks like a riley to me) costs just shy of 400,000...my guess is that this guy bought one used. (depreciation is a bitch on used racecars with no provenance)

Actually if you never said anything, I would assume from the picture that you were reeling him in.

Of course, his car has a number so it's a real racecar, unlike that funny looking thing he's about to pass.
