This is gone:
and it has been replaced with this! :)
2002 WRX - One mature owner - 99k kms, tasteful mods (exhaust, Cobb Accessport, Wing deleted by dealer, etc. ).
BTW, it was well under "Challenge price"!

Shoulda kept that fence thing that was keeping your old foglights from escaping and put it on your new ones..
Well under challenge price? If it runs and drives, with no major issues, it's a steal. There is a recall on the control arms due to rusts. Check in to that. Unfortunately there is a back order on the part.
How do you get that for challenge pric??
Just think of it like a CL ad.. We can only see one side of the car.
That is a shocking price. I have an 02 wagon with 103k miles and I hope it's worth three times that.
A good friend sold it to me. It needs a very small amount of work and he decided to buy a pick-up to tow his STi around that he is slowly turning into a dedicated track car.
I have the recall letter for the control arms.
It is cold here and I can smell a gas smell, anyone know where to find the details on the TSB for early WRX's for Fuel smell?
In reply to NGTD: The tsb in on nasioc. Just search under fuel smell and it should come up. I had mine replaced prior to the recall and subaru sent me a check to reimburse me.
So should I hate you cause you got the car for cheap, or should I hate your friend for selling it so cheap? Or both?
That fuel smell issue went beyond a TSB and is now a recall. Bring it to the dealer. I had mine done in 2011 (I think) and no gas smell this winter.
Sorry, thanks for the TSB - now recall issue info. I should have googled it first. I found it. Now I have to see if Subaru of Canada made it a recall also and not just SOA (this happens sometime).
No hate for either of us, just think of the car being passed on from one that was done with it to someone who is thrilled to have it.
If you gotta hate - hate me.
It's not so much hate as it is jealousy. Make sure the uppipe gets switched out for a non-cat variety. Eitherwise, when the cat breaks up, it will munch the turbo. If the dash clock doesn't work, open it up, there is a solder joint that always breaks, and is an easy fix.

Uppipe has been switched already. PO did it.
Thanks for the note on the dash clock. It is intermitent.
Found the fuel problem. It is not the recall issue. Nice leak right under the back seat where the lines go out of the car and down to the tank.
Fuel leak in the ineterior of the car - no wonder it stank so bad.
Anyway - fixed it this afternoon. Off for the safety inspection tomorrow.
On the control arm issue...
We took my moms 04 Impreza in for the recall and it was determined that it needed it.
I made the mistake of doing this one week before moving. For liability reasons they would not let me leave the dealership in my car and the parts had a ~2 month backorder. The dealer gave me a free loaner. (I couldnt have the car back to have it done at another dealer closer to where I was moving)
The dealer made it right and bumped me up and got another person with the same recall to postpone his till the parts for mine showed up so they could get my car done in a week.
Just an FYI, you go in, you may not have your car back for a few months. You will get a brand new loaner car for free though. For me it was only an issue as I was moving 6 hours away from that dealership.
I ended up happy and the guys at the dealer did make every effort to help me out and did their job well. Just not a stress you need when your moving
Well, I have to say the car has been a real challenge the last week and a half. It needed a lot more to pass our safety inspection than I thought it would.
Front springs - right side one was broken where it sits on the spring perch. So I picked up a used set from an 05 WRX and changed both.
RR Stabilizer Bar link.
Fog light bulb - yup if you have them they gotta work!
LF Wheel bearing - this one cost me the most. I don't have the tools to do one, so I had to have the shop do it.
Just got the safety and got the plates. Took it to work and wham - another fuel leak. This time it was the supply line from the tank. Finally managed to fix it by about 11:30 pm.
Car goes link stink! I can't really complain, it was so cheap.
