Yep you just tasted antifreeze. Get wasted to reduce the odds of kidney damage and help you settle into the reality that your engine needs to come out for major work.
Also I'm surprised that no thermostat worked so much better than a working thermostat...that car must have a pretty awful thermostat design to get a meaningful improvement in cooling capacity with the thermostat removed.
Yup, figured it was but my hands could've also been covered in coolant. Anyways 99% sure its a bad head gasket.
-replaced thermostat with no difference in outcome
-cylinder 3 was down 5-10 PSI from the rest on a compression test. ~125 PSI on all other cylinders, with in a pound or two but cylinder 3 read ~113 PSI and ~118 PSI
-liquid coming out tail pipe, the taste could've been left over coolant but i highly doubt it.
-cylinder 2 and 3 look wet inside
-some tiny bubbles in radiator
I'll do a vacuum test and update. Not looking good.

LOL I wish, but won't.
I'll probably end up pulling the head on without removing the motor. 10 bucks its easier than removing the engine. Ill need to relash the valves and change the oil since coolant is due to get in the pan.
The design seemed to work fine, still cant figure out why the head gasket would go bad from sitting.
Cracked head? Did you have the head magnafluxed? I would pull the plugs and pressurize the cooling system. Let sit and see if it looses pressure and if you see coolant in any of the cylinders.
