I hear they made a 5.0 version of the p71 in mercury trim for high speed pursuits.
Uh, no. The Marauder is still 4.6L, just DOHC instead of SOHC. And they didn't have P71-spec anything. FHP simply bought a ton of them because they were cheap and made good "unmarked" units. They're actually slower to 60/100 due to less torque, less gear, and more weight.

Drove it home and it never got hot, no leaks from the engine bay, fan comes on. This thing has some *power*! Maybe I should swap the motor into the P71...
what do you mean "MAYBE"?!?
you and I can have a competition. 5.4 vs. 32valve
Too late, already sold it
And my 16V SOHC is still quicker than your 5.4 right now
I don't have a time slip yet.
what are you going to do with your car anyway?
Didn't you use your scanner thingy to come with a 15.0 or something like that? They're probably pretty even since we both have pretty good (and big) tires and J-Mods.
Right now I'm just driving it. It needs some maintenance done before it's ready for more mods, but I'm waiting for regular paychecks again. Eventually it's getting new cats, some exhaust work re-done, and maybe headers. Plus a 8.8 girdle, front shocks, new springs, UD pulleys, and possibly a different tuner. I've had the chance to play with some DiabloSport's, and I think they could improve over my Superchips setup. If I can find a bigger front bar I might do that as well.
I didn't notice if you had your spark plug issue handled or what.
my g-tech said it went 14.9 @ 94. It's handy for tuning shift points & to note improvements, but not so much for bragging rights.
too bad the nearest real 1/4 mile is 230 miles one way.
mine SHOULD be quicker than yours right now I would think. since I have basically all the same modifications plus a few.
Yeah, I had a real shop do the tap and helicoil fix, so she's A-OK again. My best is a 14.8@95 in the current setup, though with the other tires (taller) I managed nearly the same time with a 98MPH trap. My cats are a little plugged, which is why I want to do some exhaust work.
Mine is all stock with the K&N FIPK, Superchips tune (engine & trans), 2.5" dual cat-back w/Flowmaster 40's, J-Mod, and the 275/40/17 rears (Falken FK452's). The knock-off FR500's weigh as much as the steelies, and I still have push bumpers, armored seats, and a full interior. I have some suspension/brake mods as well.
what did you do to your brakes?
Drilled/slotted/zinced rotors (DBA's IIRC), Performance Friction pads, new calipers (phenolic piston P71-spec). They stop incredibly well!
Did you ever catch my cell phone video?
