Quick question, do the coolant lines that lead to the heater core(in my case, this is looped) constantly move coolant? I am trying to find out if I can use the looped hose to feed a coolant line to a turbo.
Otherwise, is there any other place to pull coolant for this?

What about the hose/port at the rear of the head - intake side?

That'll be a possibility, probably last ditch though. I have always been leery of messing with coolant lines.
Plus as you saw, I don't have a heater core

The e30 and 2002 turn off the coolant at the valve. Feed comes from the back of the head and returns via the plastic tube that runs along side the block on the drivers side.
Using the line that would go to the heater should work fine. the other spot you can pull coolant would be from the throttle body heater. There is a port in the head (drivers side) under the intake and then in feeds back just below...again to that plastic pipe that runs along the block.
That black plastic pipe breaks pretty easy...but a new one is less than $20...maybe even less than $10 if needed.
email me if you have other questions about the m42 or turbo m42. I have turboed a couple of them (tuned the stock chip as well) jake@classicdaily.net

In reply to jakeb:
Thanks Jake, I knew of the TB heater on the intake side, but I figured why not(if possible) use the heater core line.
I'm sure I'll be emailing you with a few questions.
TB heater ....do the MUTI delete. Get rid of all that crap under there that isn't needed!
I'd go with what Jake suggested.....use the TB heater piping and delete the TB heater entirely.

I just don't know if I want hoses snaking across to the other side of the bay....tb heater, oh yea, that's gotta go.

I would personally use the throttle body heater lines. Run them around the front to keep them away from the downpipe. You could use some brake line to make it tuck close to the engine and look factory.
There is also a good oil feed port on the back of the head. That's what I normally use.

Brake line is a great idea actually.

Or some sort of other hardline....not sure how big brake line comes. 1/4" - 1/2" line would be nice.
