Ok on the Yugo I am planning on doing an Abarth theme black and red paint scheme like this.
Except it will say Yugo in the stripe.
So my question is should I bring the black and red theme into the engine bay? I think it would be boring if the engine bay is all black but I am not sure what parts I should paint red. The timing belt cover is red stock.
Whats the valve cover like? A shot of your engine bay would help a lot.

It's really easy to take bright colors in the engine bay too far. I'd like to see a combination of black and silver/gray with some polished pieces, and the rare red accent (like lettering on the valve cover). Think "OEM" flash.
A lot of that stuff will be gone (like the heater). Old picture but best I have looking into the engine bay.
I don't know about the engine bay, but if you replicate the stickers etc. Instead of having ABARTH, use the same font and print 'AAH-BART' as everyone pronounces it wrong.
I'm a fan of painting engine bays to make it easier to see what's going on. Like a light gray that doesn't show every fleck of dirt quite as clearly as white, but still provides a good background for viewing wires, and reflects as much light around in there as possible...
But I'm not sure this car is all about the practical considerations

Nope. It is about doing well in the GRM $2013 concourse since I am going to do terrible in the drag race. 
An "Abarth Zastava" theme might be pretty cool, although I haven't been able to turn up how they painted the engine compartment with a quick Google search.
I have just stripped some ugly green paint off the intake manifold so part of the question is figuring out what to paint the manifold.
Black with a 2" horizontal red stripe(s) to match the exterior, positioned ~4" down from the top edges of the engine bay?
If your doing the exterior black with red stripes, what about the engine bay red with black stripes the exact oposite? They you can just re-paint the engine bay and if it's not perfect i nthe corners you wont see it.
Dammit, that's the same as Im doing to the YFH...but it will say ABARF in the stripe ;)
I'll be creating a cutter file for the side stripes if you want to do them in vinyl.

Gonna be awhile before I get time to draw the file but just holler at me when you are getting to that stage of the process.
For the engine bay, dunno if you've seen the inside of an abarth but there is a red engine cover with a scorpion on it. If I dont polish my valve cover then I will paint it red with the scorpion. I'll be painting the engine bay body colored, there will be very little left in there so not worried about dark colors and troubleshooting. My engine block is silver and pullies and such are black because I had a half used can of silver engine paint and Im cheap.
I am kinda thinking maybe paint the engine bay red and the engine black but should I do any red accents on the engine. I mean valve cover is going to be red maybe do the intake manifold red as well?

It will probably be a while. I am pulling the engine this weekend. Then some time soon start welding up several things with the car.
Once I have the Yugo back on its feet (suspension is still torn down) I am going to put the Abarth wheels on it just to see how they look...I have a bad feeling Im going to end up buying some Fiat 500 take offs to get a bigger wheel and tire package than the 13s I have on there now.
