"Patrick Dempsey: Racing Le Mans" Marathon Thanksgiving Day on Velocity

Turkey Day Marathon First Time all Four Episodes Will Air Back-to-Back

ATLANTA (November 27, 2013) - "Patrick Dempsey: Racing Le Mans" will re-air Thanksgiving Day in a four-hour marathon starting at 11 a.m. EST only on Velocity, Discovery’s high octane network.

The highly acclaimed series premiered this past August and September and chronicles the nearly two-year quest by Dempsey, co-driver and motorsports business partner Joe Foster and the Dempsey Racing team to return to the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Dempsey, Foster and Porsche Factory driver Patrick Long did indeed make it back to France for this year’s 50th Anniversary running of the classic endurance race and challenged for the GTE-AM victory before finishing fourth in the No. 77 Dempsey Racing Porsche 911 GT3 RSR. The Porsche was entered in cooperation with top European sports car racing team Proton Competition.

The Thanksgiving Day Marathon is the first time that all four episodes of "Patrick Dempsey: Racing Le Mans" will air in succession. The popularity of the series also played a major part in the decision to film a fifth episode that is currently in final production.

Dempsey Racing’s plans for 2014 season call for a return to Le Mans, a full season in the TUDOR SportsCar Championship GT Daytona (GTD) class with a two-car team and a customer program in the IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge by Yokohama. This will be Dempsey Racing’s second year with Porsche and first in a multi-year competition program with the legendary manufacturer that includes an expanded and formalized promotional and brand cooperation relationship.

Dempsey’s relationship with Porsche received a high-profile boost and some significant new exposure this year through the "Patrick Dempsey: Racing Le Mans" documentary that also recently premiered in Europe to rave reviews and large audiences.

Dempsey Racing is a year-round professional motorsports business based in the greater Atlanta area. The organization has fielded multiple teams in several different racing series throughout North America for nearly a decade and was the organizational and management entity behind the team’s successful campaign at Le Mans with Porsche in 2013. Owned by Patrick Dempsey and operated on a daily basis by Joe Foster and Team Manager Greg Cates, Dempsey Racing also employs year-round administrative and technical personnel that includes several motorsports career professionals.

I enjoyed watching these as they came up. They irritated Mrs. Oldtin - mainly she got frustrated at watching some of the not so great decision making.

I caught a couple of these on first run, and enjoyed them greatly. I'll set the DVR for this.

I enjoyed them too. From my perspective, it gave a good insight about what really happens during the decision making process with a team of that size. I only ever worked for one team, but it was all so familiar...except for having someone like Patrick with his popularity.

In his early days, a friend raced against him in Grand Am, and the crowd around his paddock was always to capacity. It would have made simply getting through your weekend program difficult, not only for him, but the crew as well. They did a good job of showing that part of it in the series I thought. I think it's difficult for most of us to relate to that level of attention.

It's an excellent, no BS look into the racing world. It's REALLY well-done. Those who didn't catch it really should consider doing so tomorrow.

Patrick Dempsey is quite a guy.

Good series, it's tough to watch a guy that dedicated to the effort come up short when they do. You just want a guy with that passion for the sport to do well.

I remember when I met him at COTA last year, He had a line the length of the Paddock for his autograph session. He was really good about pictures and very open.
